I have said it before, but I swear there was one time when a presenter announced someone making their debut as undefeated.
I wish I could remember what fight that was.

Plenty of instances where someone with less than 5 fights have been announced as undefeated or perfect.

When it looked like Anderson was going to go the distance tonight, one of the announcers compared his record to Wilders´ and said something like: "At some point everyone has to go the distance"
He compared a 6-0(6) record to that of 32-0(32)

This was fun while it lasted. Solid effort from Ignatius, but his recklessness and lack of defense cost him.

 

It wasn’t even a loaded up shot, just a short right which he fell into after leaving himself terrible open.

 

Ludicrous. Announcing a fighter as undefeated in their debut is crazy . Guess it's just our age of hype.

True, but I actually kind of respect that more. Boxing needs tomato cans as long as records are manufactured, the least you can do is be nice to the guy who is there to lose. Irks me more to hear hyperbole regarding fighters who haven't really done anything yet.

 

Hype for the sake of hyping sums up so much today, not just in boxing...

 

Its gotten so bad, to the point that I actually miss Larry Merchant.
