I will root for Hatton until the British fans start singing again. If they do all bets are off and I'll be cheering for PBF. - Jason
You're only speaking for yourself . . . not in behalf of all the fans. Have you conducted a U.S. wide survey? :rofl :yep
I'd like to see Hatton win. He's a much more likeable guy. But I don't believe he will. I think he is going to have some issues jumping to 147 again, I don't think he will carry his power up very well. Not to mention that Mayweather has shown he doesn't have a glass jaw. He may not get hit lots but I've seen fighters connect on him and he doesn't get phased to much. Mayweather is faster both offensively(though not a high output) and defensively. While Hatton may have a higher output I don't believe he will be able to connect accurately on Mayweather. Another thing I believe is that Hatton's clinching will not work in this fight. Floyd isn't a Castillo, or Urango. He moves backwards not forwards, so by the time Hatton grabs him he will be slapped with a jab or cross or uppercut. It is easier to clutch and pound the body in a clinch when you are fighting someone who is right in your face. Mayweather is not that someone. With all that said, I do hope that Mayweather suffers a loss via KO or Decision. I think to be truly ranked up there with the greats you must show how you deal with a loss. Those like Hamed showed how not to deal with one, I'd like to see how Floyd deals with it. (Yes, I know he has accomplished far more than Hamed, that wasn't my point)
I stretched the truth a bit, I live in Brandon, but nobody outside Hillsborough county knows where the hell it is. It would absolutely make my year if Ricky can beat "Pretty in Pink" Floyd Mayweather.
Im rooting for Mayweather, even though he runs around the ring, but at least he doesnt hold so much. If Hatton didnt hold as much as he does then I would have pulled for him. But it will make my day if both of them KO each other at the same time.
**** it then, I give up. Hatton has no chance. (That said, Widdow's luck in picking fighters isn't half as bad now as it was a few years ago.)
Im not speaking for everyone. I want to know what other fight fans like myself, from the states, are rooting for Hatton.
Americans aren't really nationalistic when it comes to things like boxing. We are homers when say, our local (US) football team plays a team from some other city, but we don't have a nationalist tradition when it comes to sports. Boxing is a sport where we pick specific fighters (regardless of nationality) as our favorites and root for them. - Jason
