IF that rocket had landed four maybe five inches lower and Anthony is out cold imo. Very possibly a broken jaw too. I’ve always thought how lucky Joshua was that shot landed where it did. This content is protected As hard as that shot was, it’s not even In Wladimir’s top 10 best. Lol My favorite is the one that blasted Mercer back six feet and Mercer just kind of had a “WHAT THE **** WAS THAT?!?” expression on his face. Lol Also the one that dropped Thompson! AJ had his chin behind his shoulder. If it lands much lower it loses impact. Wlad would need to be a shorter fighter to detonate that flush on his jaw.
I honestly think Joshua's chin is in his brain. It shouldn't be anatomically possible but I believe this.
A younger Klitschko would’ve caught him on the chin and it would’ve been lights out for Joshua. Still, huge punch, landed clean, credit to AJ for getting up and winning the fight.
The shot he landed on Mercer was savage. But, watching that fight against Thompson again reminded me just how overrated Wlad is. Even in his prime, he is really not that great. So basic. Admittedly he does those basic 1-2 combos very hard and fast. But, very little imagination. Thompson basically collapsed from exhaustion more than anything else. And,, I don't think too much of Thompson as a contender. If Wlad was as good as advertised, he should have blasted out a guy like Thompson much earlier in the fight.
If Lewis was as good as advertised, he should have blasted out Mavrović. If Holyfield was as good as advertised, he should have blasted out Vaughn Bean. If Ali was as good as advertised, he should have blasted out Mildenberger earlier. See how easy it is? Thompson was a good fighter, a crafty southpaw. After a bit of figuring him out, Wlad got him out of there. He wasn't stopped again by another boxer until 8 years later in the last fight of his career and he managed to fold one of the most hyped HW prospects in David Price (who were supposed to take Klitschko down, lol) in the meanwhile.
Yeah credit to him. That was before Joshua’s punch resistance went down a bit too. Not that Joshua’s chin is ‘shot’ or anything but I don’t think he takes quite as good a shot as he used to. Meh… just comes with aging. lol
Nahhh I disagree man. Wladimir is FAR from overrated. You don’t completely schools guys like prime Byrd, Ibragimov and Chagaev by being overrated and just ‘Basic’. Lol Those were elite heavyweights at their best. Did Wlad do his share of holding? Sure! But so did a guy that many of y’all call “The greatest!”… Ali. Prime Byrd took Tua and Holyfield to school. They weren’t really even competitive. And Wladimir took Byrd apart not by size… but by speed power and skill. And Chagaev at his best was a VERY good fighter. He beat Felix Savon in the Ams. And Wlad took him apart too. Thompson was never a world beater but very effective and crafty. He was a hard nights work for most.
