Ngannou lost both fights, and both of those were jokes that shouldn't have even happened.

Wallin was lucky to not be DQ'd after blatantly trying to rub open the cut with his glove.

Fury ended Wlads reign in an absolute shut out in Wlads home turf. AJ nearly got sparked out by Wlad in AJs backyard in Wlads final fight. Neither of them gave Wlad rematches because quite frankly what was the point?

Fast forward to today where Fury's last fight is against Mahkmudov and AJ has to bully a youtuber not even in his own weight class. Maybe AJ will wait a couple of years before facing Mahkmudov. We'll see.

58% of poll responders here on esb had Ngannou winning. Plenty of people giving their scorecards in there are rational fans.

I've seen plenty of actual pro boxers also say they had Ngannou winning it.

These are from hardcore boxing fans and pro fighters, people that tend to understand the nuances of boxing, let alone casual fans who almost certainly scored it for Ngannou.

The idea that a sizeable portion of non biased and rational scorers had Ngannou winning is not a controversial statement in the slightest.

The point is, one can mock Ngannou as an opponent all someone wants, Fury single handedly legitimized him when he barely managed to scrape past him with a split decision. So whatever shade is on AJ for the Ngannou fight, its about a hundred times worse for Fury.

    You didn't answer the questions.

Is Ngannou a better win than Mak?

Did you have Ngannou beating Fury? If so, please post your scorecard.

He honestly looked like he smoked up or took an edible and was feeling the effects. Eyes red and looking dazed.

For me, knocking Ngannou out in 3 or whatever it was is a better win than going 10 rounds with Mak.

    I dont rate Mak whatsoever.

I think Ngannou is a genuine talent and has ok boxing ability. If he was younger I think he would clobber Mak.

To me, I feel this is evident by just watching them box. Heck, this Fury is almost certainly worse than the one that fought Ngannou and Mak could still do nothing. Had Ngannou gotten this Fury, little doubt he actually wins.

And Ngannou almost beating Fury in his debut is probably better than anything Mak has done his entire career. Imo.

As for their fight, I didn't score the Fury Ngannou fight round by round because I was in utter disbelief and disgust that Fury was, round by round, forever tarnishing boxing by having a very competitive fight with an mma fighter making their debute.
I do feel I probably edged it towards Fury overall.

That doesn't counter the fact that a sizeable portion of actual boxing fans didn't.

People used to be able to say things like an mma fighter could never come to boxing and win a title in a couple fights. Fury single handedly forever discredited the sport.

Boxing fans should be thanking AJ for rectifying Furys stain.

So you had Fury winning (what are we even arguing about then?)

And you think Ngannou (but only Joshua's victory, right?) is a better win than dominating an actual pro boxer in Makhmudov.

    Alright.

Ok, Paris. Make sure and tuck Luke in real good tonight. Tell him he's a big strong man and that he's totally right, the Ukrainian didn't smash him up twice. He was robbed. Oh, and wish him a Happy New Year from all of us!

you seem to think that when I said a sizeable portion of the people that scored the fight scored it for Ngannou, that that is nullified by me thinking Fury won. It doesn't nullify it. The fact remains many actual boxing fans scored Ngannou as beating Fury. Which means Fury made Ngannou a credible opponent in many people's eyes, as many people had him beating Fury.

    ......

And you overate being an 'actual pro boxer'.

Ngannou would beat him, and plenty of other 'actual pro boxers'.

Dave Allen is an 'actual pro boxer' too. Ngannou is a better scalp then him and everyone else Maks beat at the time he beat them.

I rate Ngannou higher because hes flat out the superior fighter and better boxer, and that should actually be obvious by watching their fights against Tyson.

Being an actual pro boxer is only worth the value of your actual abilities. You dont get magic points for being a mid tier boxer at best whose been manufactured into a top 20 position with no wins over any legitimate opponent and whose sole purpose at this point is to be fed to the big boys. Beating 20 Dave Allens doesn't magically make you better than someone like Ngannou whose clearly better.

Anyways, the point is, mocking AJ for fighting the guy who Fury himself legitimized, while youre attempting to downplay AJs resume in direct comparison to the guy that fought Ngannou first, and did worse then AJ did , just doesn't make a lot of sense imo.

Ofcourse fury wants it now, and probably beats him, we all know what happened to joshua, as much as i want to see this fight, he should not take it as his next fight, i want joshua to be 100% fit and with a clear mind, not the half broken one.

I didn't read it as AJ not wanting it. I read it as AJ, quite sensibly, trying to take back control of the situation in the moment. Let's be honest, Fury is pretty hard to deal with and to pin down in negotiations, I imagine. And now Fury - after all these years of having the chance - FINALLY calls AJ out publicly, why shouldn't Joshua be wary and sceptical? We all know Fury is slippery and his word is not to be trusted. Why should Joshua just dance to his tune? I actually thought AJ handled the situation pretty well.

I think you completely misunderstand Joshua's behavior in this case. Fury has been thumbing his nose at Hearn and AJ for years. Aside from all the interviews in which he insulted him, the guy simply thumbed his nose at them and blocked them from testing themselves in the ring during his peak popularity. Even Wilder's choice was a slap in the face for them, choosing a worse fight when he had the option of something better and bigger with AJ as the main event.

Later, he also treated them like a con, canceling agreed-upon fights (because lawyers couldn't verify the contracts) or, for example, giving the media some kind of ultimatum where Joshua had to sign the fight without a contract immediately or there would be no fight.
Things have changed a bit now, and Fury needs this fight because it's the best thing for him in boxing right now.
And I'm not surprised Joshua is approaching this with such energy. This is pure revenge for all these years. You want a fight? Maybe you'll get it, but on my terms. You want me in the ring to shout at you? If I feel like it, I'll give you my attention. "It's that kind of energy. Joshua knows Fury needs him now, but he's been annoying them at every turn all these years, so he better not overexert himself, because he's the one who returned to boxing for AJ."

And the fight will probably happen now. Joshua has been training with Usyk for months under the watchful eye of Chycki, who is closely monitoring everything. Only they know what he's capable of now. I wonder if it wouldn't be better to keep his current performance a surprise. If he's better, the aging Fury might have trouble in the ring. And if he's weak, it's better not to risk defeat right before such a fight.
