Hasn't stopped him taking his money in the past so I doubt it's some moral stand on AJs part.

Now Fury gets to sit there and say "AJ doesn't want it, I've already signed blah blah blah". It's not exactly a win for AJ.

nobody takes fury seriously, hes always been full of ****. aj was talking a bunch of nonsense as well, given his current standing, but what fury says or doesnt say means jack when dealing with reality.

This was a tough one to gauge and I bet on fury points before fight.

I think fury’s naturally on the slide but fury on slide is still good enough to beat guys convincingly who aren’t world level.

he’s had the 16 month lay off and coming off two losses few thing that I thought was telling
it’s first time we’ve seen fury seems less confident and second guess himself, in fight week talking bout watching wilder chisora and wonder if he’s on slide as well and more so when sugar hill was talking to him about getting him out of there fury asking back but I am boxing him right in so many words.

Makh was there for the taking but fury does fight to level of his opposition and he’s never been the best finisher, lot of food for thought for greedy belly though.

Sugar Hill is, imo, the biggest contributor to Fury's decline. If you're out boxing your opponent comfortable who the hell tells you to throw caution to the wind when you don't need to?

Tell that to the boxing media and casual fans who lap this **** up. AJ looked scared and refused to give a straight answer, and that's how most people will look at it.

Nobody is saying he won't take his money
But he definitely doesn't need it
AJ don't give a crap at this stage about bragging rights over such trivial stuff

    And rightly so

From AJ's perspective, what's the difference between this and what has happened previously e.g. "Monday 5pm Deadline"

Fury is in a class of his own as far as ducking competition goes. Everyone else in the division has done a good job of fighting the competition. Maybe throw Wilder in there with Fury since he basically spent his whole career crushing cans. Though post Fury he fought multiple contenders in Parker and Zhang.

The sport has evolved to less fights. Sucks, but that's the way it is when boxing ain't on TV anymore and has been relegated to a niche sport. Doesn't mean these guys are worse fighters. I have yet to see anyone that claims the current era sucks make any evidence based argument. Like, show me on film where guys of the past are better than dudes today. Nobody will ever do that because they can't.

I've watched boxing from every era since they could put it on film. Guys from the past, on the whole, are no better or worse than guys today. Just smaller and don't hit as hard. In fact, I think there's a solid argument boxers of the current era could be considered slightly more refined since they tend to value defense more. You see more feints of all kinds and guys just all around more defensively responsible. Most of the old timers stood in front of each other and went to war to see who'd crack first. It's why a guy like Ali was such a revelation when he came along. A dude who would glide around the ring and do more than just stand off and punch like everyone else. I think that's what causes a lot of this nostalgia bias. People remember guys like Evander and Bowe standing in front of each other and swinging for the fences. They remember Ali and Frazier hitting each other with a zillion punches. That's exciting and fun to watch. Then they see a fight of today where two guys are more circumspect in their approaches. The action is slower paced and there's more consideration for not eating every punch thrown. I think that suggests boxers are slightly better today, but the hoi polloi don't care about actual boxing ability. They just want knock outs and wars.

And of course, they didn't see and or don't remember the endless stinker fights of the past. But when they see one today it's fresh in their mind. Just like how people are poo-pooing this sparring session Fury just had. In 30 years no one will remember this fight even happened. They'll remember Fury v. Wilder 1, 2, and 3. They'll remember Usyk v. Fury 1. They'll remember AJ v. Klitschko. They'll remember Usyk v. AJ 1 and 2. Those will be the Classic Rock hits that get endlessly replayed, while people of the future won't ever see this fight. That's how easy it is to put a shine on past eras.
