Netflix: Tyson Luke Fury vs. Arslanbek Ruslanovich Makhmudov & Conor Benn vs. Regis Prograis RBR.

I'm sure it was for the cameras only but in his last Netflix series he was arguing with the Mrs about buying Blackpool Airport because it was getting too hard to get in and out in private jets elsewhere... after the AJ fight he'll be tunnelling from the IOM to the mainland.

 

I actually enjoyed AJ's reaction last night, it wasn't his show and he was right to say "yawn, been here before". Maybe Turki assumed it was a done deal with his cash but the world's not like that.

On the other hand AJ has a cheek talking about retirements when he's spent most of the post-Usyk years fighting shite as 'tick-overs" that led to him being sparked out and going a dreadful distance with a youtuber.

They're both past it - it's been a fun era but let them fight each other for novelty value but I wish they'd let the next generation through and disappear. Sadly because of their money and influence I suspect neither will.

 

This was my take, Fury losing his base when pressured and only able to go back in straight lines

 

No way do Dubois, Wardley, Parker and AJ beat last nights Fury. The same Aj who was last seen break dancing on the canvas in his last meaningful fight, then his dreadful showing against a youtuber.

 

What a disastrous venture by Netflix to attract viewers to boxing in the UK. An excruciating unskilled 36 minutes of lumbering behemoths, that even had Turki squirming on his throne, while his subjects fawned around him.
At least Huni and Clarke weren’t there under false pretences.

Unless people have never seen heavyweight boxing before, they will have known it will be like that. Barring a few exceptions that’s what you get with them. Fury looked the same as he has after the first Wilder fight. He can’t be skipping around the ring anymore but them hands were sharp last night.

 

Anyone else have issues with picture quality on Netflix last night? Trying to work out if it was Netflix or my bird’s third-world WiFi.

 

Fury is a massive ogre with good hands, you can go pretty far with that but he's done at elite level, he got dropped by an MMA fighter and couldn't get that bear out of there last night.

 

The reality is we’ll never know. He’s not going to go anywhere near any of the young players in the division and I don’t blame him for that, all he can do is tarnish his legacy at this stage. A win against AJ is only realistic thing to tick off and I can only see that being ugly.

 

I think I was more impressed by Fury than most others here from reading the posts. I thought he boxed well and still has a lot left. Good punch selection, good engine and controlled the fight. I think he was happy to play it safe and get the rounds in.

 

Easy to have a good engine in a spar. Different story when you have nervous energy and feel under pressure, which is probably what would happen if he was in with Joshua.

Makhmudov looked comical. The way he was trudging forward, sometimes with his head down and his hands and feet at funny angles. He didn't look right.

Fury looked OK, missed a few uppercuts, was getting pushed back easily at first but he improved.
He wanted rounds and got them, Sugar Hill wanted Mak outta there. Fury put a few nice punches and moves together in round 11 and looked a quality fighter. Those misses against someone younger, fresher or just better will get punished but it was a decent performance against a strong guy but limited guy who had no idea after round 3. It was what Fury needed. Dangerous in terms of raw power but limited skill set.

I think we will see Fury going back towards a more boxing oriented style now rather than being really heavy and trying to shoot out with guys. If the target is AJ then Fury's feints and movement are his biggest keys to victory.

 

Yes but I more so remember how nervous he looked afterward when asked if he wanted to face Fury. Fury had beaten Wilder in the second at that point and looked good.
