Are there boxers who literally can't go to sleep because of physical pain? I just watched a Miguel show, they said Cotto was aching for 20 years. Then you got prograis , nursing four injuries during the Connor benn fight. Floyd used to shoot up his hands with pain killer, Joe Frazier (r.i.p.) was a boxer with multiple health problems, a tough mofo. I'm pretty sure the guys on classic forum can attest to his injuries! Holyfield couldn't throw one of his arms without pain In the Toney bout AND the great iron mike Tyson said "fighters fight until their health is gone, till they can't do it anymore" after the Lennox massacre whereas im paraphrasing not verbatim. In a side note: how many boxers have their health in tact? Who are some examples? How many DO have their wits, health, faculties about them? And how did they stay so healthy?
If I had to guess, I would say most of the physical issues come from all the hard training. The brain injuries from the real fights. So, bad backs, shoulders, arms, hand etc, in the training. I'm sure the more knowledgeable guys will chime in on this.
Muhammad Ali needed to have coritsol injections into his hands. Joe Calazghe fought with a damaged hand for the majority of his career.
I can't do push ups on my hands as my wrists are ****ed. But that's more due to hitting the bag bare knuckle. I can do them like on dumbbells, hand weights etc. Like I'm holding onto handles. Hate to think what some boxers go through.
