Naseem Hamed was easily the best but get's underrated because everyone hated him. But if you look at him in his prime from 94-97, he's basically a featherweight Roy Jones with bigger nuts. Insane footwork, reactions, radar, speed and power. Although his first European title was at Batamweight.

People look at the older Hamed, which wasn't really old but he was faded, when he first came through he put together insane combinations, was quicker and more agile.

Moorer winning the 175lb world title and going on to win the world heavyweight title against a legendary champion. Losing but actually winning a piece of the title back before flaming out.
Not a fan favorite but he should get credit. Moorer was a beast at lightheavyweight.

 

Camacho was not in any way carefully matched on the way up and fought and beat everybody.

 

Gotta disagree. He deserved his shot against the shopworn, stylistically complementary Limon, but Perez was more of an unknown quantity then. And the young Camacho barely beat him.

 

Moorer never won the 175 title. He regained part of the heavyweight title against a stiff who wasn't even really top ten material.

 

Perez was well thought of and was trained I think by Dundee. He also gave Jimmy Paul fits. And the Camacho bout was not close.
He beat Coverson, and Paul both unbeaten in back to back fights before winning his first title.

 

Melvin Paul lost to just about everyone, realistically. And the Jimmy Paul-Perez fight was quite a while later.

I personally thought the Perez-Camacho fight was quite well-contested. I had Camacho winning, though not widely.

 

Melvin Paul had been a top amateur and true his boxing career in the pros didn't pan out in his very next bout he beat Crawley who was a very good boxer and would go on to become the number one contender,
I thought the Perez fight was a good bout and Perez gave a good account of himself but Camacho on and there was never any doubt on who was the winner. Perez would go on to push Jimmy Paul pretty hard and Paul was a champion and considered one of the top 3 lightweights in the world.
Camacho was matched pretty hard was my point.
