"many sources cite him as out of shape" I mean, he gained fifteen pounds from February to October, or something like that. Every source understood he wasn't in shape, I'd wager. That said, Holy's 208 pounds is what some of the 2010-2020 era guys might weigh if they just weighed what they should weigh. But with the addition of being a great athlete with masterclass skills, will and resilience.

 

He was usually heavier than that as heavyweight but did fight a few times around there as a heavy. He was 205 against Bowe the first time but he lost. Came back at 217 and beat Bowe.
Depends who he is fighting but I would say against Klitchcos Fury Lewis or Usyk hes going to have a very hard time winning at 208. He was heavier twice against Lewis and the best he did was a draw.

Good post. But Douglas was still expected to out-jab Holyfield. And I think he was still the favorite going in.

 

Yes, the gap in skill and intangibles that Holyfield possessed to the guys he would be fighting is just too large
