Foreman’s power is historically top‑tier and more versatile than Wilder’s and while Fury has shown he can get up from nuclear shots Foreman throws combinations not single bombs. Not to mention Fury is simply too hittable, if Foreman lands clean early, Fury’s recovery won't save him the way it did vs Wilder.
It’s an interesting matchup. Gun to my head I think Fury plays with him, especially in the 2nd half of the fight where Foreman slows down and Fury’s energy level increases.
Fury didnt fight many punches and was dropped by cruiser Cunningham and 212 Wilder I still have no gripes with a Fury pick, taller, longer, possibly quicker and can fight well inside Foreman hits hard enough to get the job done, has a great jab and punch variety with power
These discussions are nonsense and don't help anyone but to feel better about one's opinion. I am in the camp of current fighters standing on the shoulders of past giants. In every sport they advance their world records further and further and the same goes for boxing, even if current fighters don't look as great in a more professionalized environment. Coaches experience makes a difference. Doping makes a difference. Sports science, food etc So if we compare a past great with one of the greatest careers to a modern fury who is a quick giant with god knows what kind of 'science' (boars?) behind him to go 12 rounds with good feet who wins? I think fury beats him, but if fury had been born on the same day as foreman and had only had the support possible back then, it would have been quite different. I also think every fighter belongs firmly in their own time. There is no glory in being better h2h than some old fighters who drank ox blood in order to get better and had a smoke before and after the fight (not foreman, bot other past greats) And btw foremans stamina wasnt as bad as people think. against ali he had the pressure of the whole crazy arena against him and it was supposedly super hot and humid in there. No air conditioning, probably little oxygen and he went against ali like a madman.
Fury barely survived Wilder. I believer the ref made the right call in the first fight, but I also think had he immediately waved it off no one would have complained and also no one would be talking about Fury and the greats at all. In the third fight, Wilder put him down and was one knockdown away from a very probable stoppage, round ended though. If Wilder can put him down and almost out, and a few others were able to put him down, Foreman would have a much easier time of it. Wider variety of punches, can unleash power with less distance required, tactically smarter, and if we go by the rules of Foreman's day, he probably wins with the three knockdown rule.
Not if he came into the ring in the kind of shape that he did vs Mak, he looked awful, I don't think his attitude is professional enough to prep for a master finisher like Foreman.
I always find it interesting when fight conditions are cited as they affect both fighters. Sure Ali had the crowd, but he suffered from the same conditions and paced himself appropriately. Simply a better boxing brain, a better tactician, a better fighter. For me, the best Fury clearly outpoints young George by the way. I have neither in my top ten but think Fury is more of a H2H puzzle for many than George is...
You have to keep in mind that Tyson Fury has durability similar to Muhammad Ali, he has the same style which is to fight on the outside like Muhammad Ali. Don't forget hes also 6'9 with a 85 inch reach which is a huge factor. Deontay Wilder hit Usyk can, versatile, lateral movement range control
