If Inoue Stops Nakatani Will It Be More Impressive Than Crawford Stopping Spence?

More impressive. Spence was compromised and not the same from his accident. Nakatani is fine. Just had one unexpectedly rough fight because someone on his management team royally screwed up.

good lord, imagine being his trainer by like round 5 and realizing what these idiots on the management side got your man into.

 

Retrospectively, yes, Inoue winning is bigger. We know that Spence was a shell of himself and was severely outmatched. However, retroactively is not the way to look at things. Based on all we knew and know going into both fights the Crawford win is bigger.

 

There is no comparison? Not real world.

Unless it's another attempt to denigrate Crawford's performance.

 

I think Crawford’s win over Spence is the bigger W. First, we don’t know yet if Nakatani is a great super bantamweight. I thought he just edged it against Reyes, but he still looks a bit small for the division. Second, Spence’s injuries from the car crash have always been exaggerated. Just look at his fight with Ugas after the crash, he looked great. Nakatani would be a very good win for Inoue, but not on the same level as Crawford beating Spence. That said, Inoue’s win over Fulton at 122 is probably just as good as the Spence win.

Unfortunately, due to Spence's accident, there will always be an Asterix next to that victory. Not that Crawford wouldn't be victorious, but, there would be far more credibility in dismantling Spence before the crash.

 

In my opinion Inoue's win wouldn't be more impressive than Crawford's against Spence, for several reasons. Nakatani against Inoue will be only his second super bantamweight fight, in his first, fought in december, Junto didn't impress and won a very close contest (in my opinion the verdict could have gone either way). Meanwhile, Spence was a natural welterweight, at the top of the division for years and had convincingly defeated Ugas in a unification fight in his last outing before Crawford. Spence had also defeated opponents superior to those Nakatani had beaten so far. It's also fair to say that Spence hadn't been very active in the last few years before the fight with Bud and had been in a truly tragic car accident in 2019, which left him sidelined for over a year, when he returned to fighting, defeating a highly esteemed boxer like Danny Garcia. So I think the one Crawford defeated was a very competitive Spence.

 

The manner in which he wins will show.

Crawford didnt allow Spence anything, it was a wholly dominant effort. If Inoue can do the same i would be amazed. I'm not even sure he wins this one.

 

At first i thought it was about a comparison with crawfords canelo win, not the spence one.

I would have loved to click 'yes' on that, as i think the long overdue win against "over the hill everyone has to bow to me canelo" is overrated. It's a good win, but to me it is way less interesting than seemingly to most.

Crawford is great, though. But i would have loved to see him fight more interesting opponents below super middle. Fundora would now make for an aesthetic performance by Crawford
