I say Miracle Matthew by late stoppage. Monzon would have faced a slugger/pressure fighter bigger than him, more powerful, who would have been able to absorb his jabs and straight right hands, imposing a fight from the inside and demolishing him round after round.
MSM by stoppage. Monzon going up against a full strong wild engine LHW. Yeah, no way Monzon winning that, that's a bridge too far
Even if you scaled him up to be a 6'3 natural Light-Heavy, Saad would still pose a lot of problems to him.
Mathew was strong. I don't think Carlos could hurt him. I'd have to go with Saad to be too much at that weight.
They both fought during the era of same day weigh ins. There is a reason Monzon struggled so hard to stay at 160. He literally tortured himself to stay at that weight.
Chalk up another late, come-from-behind stoppage for the House of Saad. Monzon’s looking good through about eight but the size and strength of MSM wears on him and Matthew just got stronger as the fight went. A short middleweight named Bennie Briscoe turned Carlos sideways and Bad Bennie wasn’t a big puncher at 160, really … Saad was a freight train coming down the track and sooner or later Monzon can’t get out of the way of it.
