Prime George Foreman vs Zhang Zhilei

I actually think the 90s version of Foreman who weighed 250-260 would do quite well against Zhang.

Yes, Foreman beats him easily. Zhang isn't that good to begin with.

Young Foreman isn't getting banged out by Zhang and his stamina although not top drawer is better by far than Zhang. Young George stops Zhang before midway. Old George stops him before 10, more methodical and although he takes longer he is more efficient in this fight.

 

I've got a soft spot for old Zhang, but I'd probably pick Foreman.

That said, I would absolutely make one of those bets that says "Foreman to get knocked down and go on to win". If I remember right, Foreman only went down four times, and two of those times are irrelevant to this discussion because they were late in the fight and this is Zhang we're talking about, but the other two times came against Ron Lyle in round four of their fight, and Foreman went on to end the fight the next round.

And I've pointed this out a few times, but Zhang has next to no problem putting guys down between his power and his timing abilities. His big issue is when the guys manage to climb back to their feet. As far as killer instinct goes, the dude is basically a boxing movie villain where he knocks the protagonist down, goes to his corner celebrating, then turns around and sees the guy getting up and says "Wait, no, you're not supposed to do that" and is clueless about what to do next

 

Big George would win but the fireworks in the first four rounds would be amazing. Two savage punchers.

Might sound crazy but I actually think 2nd career Foreman beats Zhang but young prime Foreman gets taken out mid rounds. Zhang has a granite chin and elite power. I think young George tries to go toe to toe with Zhang but gasses out trying to get Zhang out of there and eventually gets nailed with a right hook harder than anything Lyle hit him with.

Older George stands up to Zhangs power and wears him out with that jab and pressure. Probably a TKO with shots on the ropes around 8 or 9th round. George will look like a balloon face again though afterwards. Lol
