Joe Frazier vs Ken Lakusta the HW champion of Canada

If you mean he TRIES then yes. Ken Lakusta was a kickboxer before he was a boxer. Played hockey too. And as a pro boxer he stepped in the ring with a lot of top fighters. Man had guts. But as for how he performs against Joe Frazier , he gets beaten up bad and early

 

This has to be the very first Joe Frazier vs. Ken Lakusta thread in the history of the internet. I just cannot believe anyone else ever would have put these two together.

This is probably all kinds of painful for Lakusta however long it lasts, which I'm guessing wouldn't be very long...maybe 4 or 5 rounds or so. He did manage to take Morrison to a six round decision though, and also made it into the 10th round vs. Berbick, so there's that.

Any time this guy crosses my mind, I remember the time he rose from a KD and rocked Big George. Didn't result in a win of course, but it made for a fun 20 or 30 seconds or so.

I know Frazier wasn’t a fast starter, but he probably still takes it relatively early, maybe mid-rounds at most. Lakusta may be game, he may require the ref to step in, but ultimately Frazier would win one-sidedly.

 

I remember that too. See that live on USA Tuesday night fights. I was like what was that ???

 

Even prime Joe cannot beat Lakusta for the Canadian championship unless he changed his citizenship papers.

But I do fancy Lakusta’s chances … as long as it’s the Joe of Jumbo Cummings and not a ‘live’ version.

Otherwise, Frazier flattens him like a pancake.

 

Pretty cool that the guy was able to have his moment in the sun here, however brief it was, on National TV and against Foreman. I'd imagine that a couple stories that Lakusta has told a million times over the years would be, "I was two time Canadian HW Champion", and, "I rocked Big George". Why not? He at least earned those bragging rights.

 

The guy was tough and brave. I’ll give him that
