Does anyone know if Hughie Fury is fighting again?

He was calling out Andy Ruiz recently.

 

I am struggling to identify this technical boxer everyone is referring to here.

The lad couldn’t land an overhand right if his life depended upon it, and his jab is more of tag ‘touch and go’ than a jab.

He is great at moving away from punches and not getting hit, no denying that.

But he possesses next to no threat offensively. In all those big fights he had against Parker, Povetkin and Parker he didn’t ever look like hurting any of them.

It’s really time for the lad to hang them up.

To be a professional boxer you need to be able to throw a punch and hurt an opponent. He has only ever done it against opponents at a very low level.

As someone said in this thread he is more suited to the amateur game, especially in that era where you were rewarded for a touch and go type approach.

 

That looked like a struggle for you, mate. Only one mention of a punch.

He's not that good defensively the amount of times he gets hit. This isn't 2017. Distance control? Hughie 1.0. basically kept away from any live dog as much as possible. Hughie 2.0 tries to smother and brawl and gets hit as much as he hits. The first approach resulted in him unable to land any meaningful punches and the second approach results in him being hit a lot and due to his poor technical ability unable to hurt opponents with his punches. He can't throw a straight punch and his hooks are awful.

Your post shows how technically inept he is. Kell Brook has very good technique. Present day Dalton Smith has very good technique. Of men the same height as him, Lennox Lewis and Wladimir Klitschko had very good technique. Andrew Golota had good technique, also, at a slightly lower level (Golota was WC material and it wasn't technique that let him down). Now compare them to Hughie Fury who can't throw any good punches. His jab is the best thing he has and I do like it, but even that never remotely stung an opponent. You could talk about what these boxers do well all day, but with Fury you are reduced to making fleeting reference to a jab and the rest is fairly abstract or flat out controversial.

Not sure if he is because in amateur boxing he would probably be in against more competitive opponents. Hughie Fury likes to box against part-timers who are working all day every day and doing a bit of boxing twice per week, if that.

 

He's a decent defensive fighter, has a lot of good attributes to his game, his offense is where he falls short, that along with peter being a very over rated trainer.

 

Think its fair to say his career has dwindled out. Decent fighter by all means but never the full package.
