Anthony Joshua is the most overrated Heavyweight in history

Thing is, people on the internet don't seem to know how to use the word "overrated" properly. It's basically became a term for something or someone, one doesn't like.

AJ was never called an ATG. And if he was, what, by an idiot poster or two?

The more praise a fighter one doesn't like gets, the more overrated those will say.

 

Yeah, you can't be calling a dude the most overrated HW of all-time because a few fans on the internet said it. To be truly overrated, the vast majority of casual fans have to see you as one the best when you clearly ain't and/or the boxing media is claiming you're the best when you clearly ain't.

In terms of which HWs are overrated all-time? Mike Tyson because the casuals love him to death despite him quickly flaming out and not beating the top guys of his era. Ali because even though he is the greatest, everyone now acts like he was some godlike, untouchable dude who would wipe the floor with anyone ever. He's given too much love by both casuals and professionals at this point. And other than those two, there ain't really anyone else. Besides Fury. The absolute batcrap crazy stuff they were saying about him post Wilder 3 and Whyte was verging on the level of cult-like delusion. Just people tripping over themselves to say ever more outrageous nonsense about how great Fury was. All for beating Deontay freaking Wilder and post-chin cracked Dillian Whyte. /facepalm

 

Absolutely.

Or fans, casual or otherwise, have to be making claims that the record clearly can't back up - the more of those claims, or the more unsupported they are, the worse it is.

On none of these metrics is AJ the most overrated of this era.
And you can't be the most overrated of all time if you're not even the most overrated of the era.

 

Nobody calls joshua the goat , I don’t see him being ranked in top 10 atg , so he is def not the most overrated. The most overrated fighter ever is the glorified can crusher aka Mike Tyson and it’s not close.

No he's just the most overly-hated heavyweight of all time. His haters seem to have a weird obsession with him, like they just can't talk about anything else other than AJ AJ AJ.

He did well: beat Klitschko (only active boxer who would've beaten him that night, Fury was 'retired' then; Klit wasn't as far gone as people make out). Beat undefeated Whyte, that win aged well over the next few years. Beat Parker, that aged well. Povetkin is an underrated win, had only lost to Klitschko and honestly Klitchko should've been disqualified that night. Beating Takam, Pulev, Wallin are about equal to most of overrated Vitali's title defences. And beating an overweight Ruiz is still better than Lewis 'avenging' his loss to McCall who was having a breakdown.

 

Amen brother....Like put some effort into thing's trolling is worthless...If I wanted to hear someone bicker I would be married.

 

Joshuas overrated but "in history" is quite a bit much.

Even if most of them was old, they was still at the top world level specially Povetkin, Joseph Parker, Andy Ruiz Jr and Klitschko. Nobody can denied that fact.


Joshua is not the best Heavyweight History and not even the best Heavyweight of the decade 2015-2025. But Wilder and Luis Ortiz ducked him in the past and that's also a solid fact for him to be honest. Luis Ortiz prefer a rematch against Wilder than to fight Joshua in the past and Wilder didn't want to do the unification with Joshua.

 

AJ was the World Heavyweight champion, if anyone thinks achieving that even remotely gets him classified as the most overrated heavyweight in history, then I must beg to differ.

 

People say this about every boxing generation because they are nostalgic of boxers when they were kids. Joshua physically speaking at the peak of combat sport existence. He is not the most technical fight in the sport but I’d still favour him against a large chunk of heavyweights across history.
