What's your top 10 Americans Heavyweight right now ?

It's hard to compile the list
Interestingly in the boxrec USA HW ratings Jake Paul is in the top 15
Torres is on the up and looking impressive for example
Ruiz hasn't been very active but would be rated highly if he was I expect as well as Hunter

I could change my opinion easily but I guess something like in no order

Miller
Wilder
Anderson (not been overly active but is boxing next month)
Martin
Torres
Franklin
If Ruiz and Hunter fight again soon

 

1. Torrez (I think he beats Sanchez)
2. Anderson
3. Miller (I don't even count Miller as a top 10 hw so him at #3 shows how dire the American scene is)
4. Wilder

Ruiz would be at #3 if he was active. I think he would've continued to beat Miller pretty easily if he hadn't broken his hand. Joshua Edwards is an alright prospect but need to see a bit more of him. Hopefully Torrez really is the goods against Sanchez.

 

I always felt it was different when the iron curtain came down
Suddenly there was alot more competition
From what I saw there are 346 USA based HWs
The numbers are there, I just sometimes feel they are managed and guided in a different way that isn't working as well as it used to
The UK has from what I could find, 62 UK based HWs
Due to so many less, think they may get matched a bit more often
There are also plenty of fights that don't and haven't happened but possibly not as much

That is just a thought above and I don't claim to have a clue

 

It's dire, I mean really dire. I'm not counting Andy Ruiz because he hasn't boxed in about 2 years and Jared Anderson because he hasn't fought in 14 months and is now out with a bicep injury.

There is the top three and then everyone else. But it's not exactly looking promising. There are a bunch of guys with some unbeaten records against journeymen but how good they are is anyone's guess (and my guess is....average to not very)

I also want to juxtapos this with the top ten heavys of 1993 in a snapshot in time, 9 of them were American (I'll omit Lennox Lewis here)

Big Pharma Miller being 1 or 2 as best heavy weight of active US boxer shows how bad heavyweight boxing is for the state.

 

If this list is accurate, it has to be low point in American Heavyweight history.

 

Sad state of affairs.

 

Miller at 1 for me...pains me to say it..just a big lump with a gas tank and some juice probably. But he's competitive with anyone and could be handful for the top end of the division soon.

Wilder mainly on past achievements the win over Chisora was ugly but he got it done.

Torrez is about to take his first big step forward.

how about Benavidez at his walk around weight? After a camp, without any dietary restriction, without a water cut, he’d probably end up low 200s. He’d look sloppy and flabby, but he still might legitimately be the best American weighing in over 200lbs.
