Has a longer reach than Sonny Liston's 80 inch reach and is 6'0 these are the statistics of one of his fights Tyson fury is about 6'8 so Liston is giving up 8 inches in height and 5 inches in reach Has better footwork, better skill, more lateral movement. Had the jab and would win on points Assume this is a 12 round match I believe Tyson Fury is slightly under Usyk. I believe Fury wins because hes the better rounded fighter. People compare Fury to Ali and Lennox Lewis. Which I don't think Tyson Fury can really be compared to Ali or Lewis since they are both better fighters than Fury.
Huge target. For all the talk of Ali being smaller than Fury, it actually helped him in the defense department. Avoiding lumbering sluggers like Whyte, Wilder, or Chisora, is different that avoiding an accurate, medium-sized heavy.
Plodder's do not beat Tyson Fury... Ali came in slick quick and just outjabbed a jabber...using his feet. Boxing 101, footwork makes the dream work. Feet before hands.
Listons jab would off-set Fury's rhythm. I don't think it's a shutout or anything Liston would be in trouble for parts of it, but he's not overly difficult to hit and Liston hitting him would be a lot different to many other fighters that have floored Fury.
Size won't matter here, remember Foreman said the only man to ever push him back and revert on the frontfoot was Sonny Liston. If you think Fury's reach is a factor, remember Liston had an incredibly long reach too. The bodywork from Liston would be brutal as well.
I can see it, but with size also comes a bigger hitbox Fury is a massive target and not as fast/agile compared to Ali. 50/50 IMO, Fury isn't likely to score a stoppage
Fury is too big for him. I don't think it would be as competitive as others are making it out to be. Fury moves very well and contrary to what people think can hit hard (especially against a guy who doesn't move well). Between outboxing and landing some big shots on him I would be surprised if Liston reaches the final bell.
Where did you get that reach measurement. Last I read Sonny had an 84" reach. Sonny beats the brakes off Fury.

Fury has had trouble with smaller guys like Usyk and Cunningham but because they were more nimble. Liston isn't. Not a hot take.
Not at all a crazy suggestion. I think Liston and a some other smaller heavies might be able to take advantage of Fury's relatively lower workrate and output and use it to build up rounds, over the distance. But Fury with his movement and huge size advantage would never be an easy fight for Liston
Liston has an upgraded version of Furys hands. Fury got knocked down 6 times by Wilder whose not as good as Liston Ngannou who was a debutant Usyk whose not a KD kinda guy Liston v Fury would be the great clappening.
