“What an amazing event this was. Felix “Tito” Trinidad retroactively receiving The Ring Magazine welterweight & Junior middleweight titles. In 1988 The Ring abandoned their championship policy (1 vs. 2 for the belt) and they brought it back in 2002 through Nigel Collins. As far back as 2002, I always felt sad Tito missed out as he would have received those titles vs. Oscar De La Hoya (1999) & Fernando Vargas (2000). Now, he finally has those beautiful belts. Such an honor to have been there to attend. Huge thanks to Gene Aguilera and Douglass Fischer for presenting. Tito! Tito! Tito! Tito!”

I think the Ring doing this for all divisions during eras they didn't award belts is common ass sense.

Deserved recognition for one of the purest fighters to ever step in the ring. Endless stamina, textbook perfect, deadly accurate combination punching, absolute dynamite punching power, and a heart that knew no quit. The man was absolutely awesome.
