He looked excellent last night, against a decent, if unproven cruiserweight opponent in Zurdo. His attributes and hand speed, whilst good, would only be a problem for a several rounds against even decent heavyweights let alone the top guys. I think even someone like Miller would probably prove too much for Benevidez. Bivol and opetaia are the fighters he needs to chase, anything above that is reaching and asking for an L. It takes a truly special fighter to transition to Heavyweight, Holyfield, Usyk but not Benevidez.
Ideally he comes back to 175, but he ain’t making that weight again I would have to imagine. bivol is rubber matching beterbiev and Canelo isn’t coming to 175 for Benavidez. all roads lead to Opetaia. The one heavyweight he matches up well with is Richard Torres. Could test the waters and try to fight Usyk …
Benavidez is still small for Cruiserweight never mind even mentioning Heavyweight,Benavidez is best off going back to LightHeavyweight and trying to get Bivol in the ring with him for Undisputed .
Heavyweight might be a step too far especially against a live opponent. He’d probably beat lumbering unskilled folks who telegraph everything a year before
