Why is Joey 11 rounds Parker so overrated?

    Another strange post on this site. There is hatred for seemingly every heavyweight at some point. Parker is a former alphabet champ and long time contender who has avoided no one fighting in a foreign land which few ever do. The guy has a style that I won’t be surprised if he upsets a few more contenders. Pretty slick for a big man without huge power. Moving on.

    It's not the age gap exactly. Being 27 often isn't an advantage over 31. I feel that Wilder was well past his prime, and Parker inside his. I dont know how much Wilder was in the gym but 1 round in 26 months isn't what we usually think of as active, whereas Parker was fighting every few months. Wilder was also having well-documented problems outside the ring, with his ex-wife, his brother, drugs and so forth.

    It's not Parker's fault Wilder was compromised and he deserves credit for taking the fight, and for winning it by such a wide margin. But the win flattered him as he was fighting Wilder in name only.

    The Ali comparison is tongue in cheek but the closest American HW to Ali this century thus far is, like it or not, Wilder.
