He's gone from being ready for David Avanesyan by pundits, after 'devastating' wins against Algieri and Van Heerden, to whatever the hell landscape he's in now.

With no amateur background, what were pundits seeing in 2022, and some now in 2026? In '22, were they simply drunk on hype, and being hypnotised by that new found knockout power? And then what now?

What are his clear weaknesses, apart from being a raw amateur? Is not being able to finish off a shot Regis, a clear weakness. Could he even be knocked out? I think Ryan Garcia could possibly do this. He's clearly hittable.

He's still not had that coming out fight, has he? I think they were hoping the last fight would be, and it clearly wasn't.

On a flip note, are there any identifiable strengths, and signs for improvement you can see...

He's one dimensional - looks lost on the backfoot

Trying to answer objectively is difficult given how dislikable he is

His main strength for me is his conditioning. He looks good late in fights.

I think the obvious weakness, particularly based on his style of fighting is a lack of knockout power since he got popped for PEDS.

Doesn’t have the best jab, moves back in straight lines, can’t throw punches on the backfoot.

If we're talking what strengths he has at world level, which is where he is being aimed at, then it's only really speed and fitness.

His weaknesses are many. His jab isn't particularly good, he loads up too much, has a tendency to not throw enough straight shots, fights in straight lines, and his ring IQ is poor.

He has improved in these areas in his last couple of fights, albeit against old, shot opposition. Previously, he was incredibly raw. There was a bit more composure in his last two fights.

His lack of ring IQ is what really sticks out to me, though. He throws a lot of shots, but there is no method to his madness, no subtlety, and very little variation. Just jump in and let the shots go. Rinse and repeat. He is similar to Amir Khan in that way.

When he steps up to fight a decently skilled boxer who isn't old and past it, he will struggle. His athleticism and work rate was enough to overcome Eubank and Prograis, but a younger, fit fighter will be able to keep up with Benn, so he will have to rely on other traits to win. Considering how predictable Benn is, and that he doesn't throw many feints, set his attacks up well, or set traps, he will quickly get worked out and start getting timed with well placed counters.

If he had world class power or a granite jaw, he may be able to overcome his many technical flaws. Great power / punch resistance mixed with speed and fitness can get you far, but his power is poor now he is off the eggs, and he has been hurt previously by non-punchers.

Weaknesses - still loads of question marks at the top level. Strip everything back and he just hasn’t proven it against elite or even current world level opposition yet, especially with everything that’s gone on.

Strengths - proper gym rat, clearly trains hard and lives it, and he’s got that delusional self-belief fighters need, with a team that feeds into it.

But his biggest asset is the hype. He’s probably the best promoted fighter in boxing, massive name without really earning it in the ring. Bit like the Kardashians of boxing in that sense, built more on the name and the machine around him.

That’s why everyone wants him, big money, big exposure. But if that bubble goes, it could go quick unless he somehow finds that COVID form again

Read his father’s autobiography recently and you can see where it all originates, especially the external side of things.

I don't think anyone's ever accused him of being a truly bad boxer in the literal sense - has always shown a few good qualities but is just clearly not world level and unproven as even the best at his weight in Britain, and all the big talk from him and his ex promoter didn't help endear him to fans. Now his brother Harley Benn on the other hand, he is atrocious.

Strengths- his father, looks the part, works hard and we all talk about him. And his matchmaking.

Weakness - overrated in all aspects of boxing.

    This, pretty much

Has never really faced an on form fighter in their respective weight class, and I predict his whole career will be these obscure catch weight type, almost parody type of fights

Some really good domestic dustups available to him, all (at least at some point) have been easy to make too-Crocker/kelly/walker- These guys aren’t of interest to him because his ego is so
large he believes he’s above them but the irony is these guys are actually way ahead of him in terms of boxing achievements

For the sake of a balanced argument his work rate and ethics when it comes to training is admirable

And if he took one of these domestic fights, and looked good, in a loss even, he would command more respect. He is currently operating more at the Misfit end of the spectrum.

Benn's strength has always been his promoter. In years to come he'll reflect on how he got near the financial / exposure level he did.

His dad chose Hearn and then egged him on (pun not intended) to sign for Zuffa. Benn Sr also moved between promoters when he needed to.

Compare to Eubank Sr who lived on handshake deals but stayed mostly loyal to one promoter and then thought he could do it himself for his son. Jr's career has never been right and probably under-delivered until the free money for fighting Benn.

His biggest strength was matchroom PR team and matchmakers. Don't get me wrong he's full of heart and game as they come but he shouldn't really be getting past British level

No. His biggest strength was/is being Nigel Benn's son. I thought that would be obvious to any boxing follower.

Strengths - he seems dedicated, fit & decent stamina.

Weaknesses - terrible footwork, no power (since failed drug tests), doesn’t take his head off centre line, can’t fight on the back foot & many more. He literally just throws hook after hook. Doesn’t have a jab and poor ring IQ.
