What are your top 10 Australians P4P right now ?

I agree with that mate, seemed like Tim was doing better when Kostya wasn't around. The circus that followed Kostya at the Bakram fight sure didn't help! I still think Tim misses him though and that in Fenech he see's a father type figure. Of course Igor has always been there but Fenech being a legend of boxing ( like his dad ) and him knowing Jeff since he was a baby. I think there's something there. Fenech will help Tim with his confidence.

 

good list, but i think i'd have Desley Robinson maybe third
Would be great to see Desley and Kaye Scott rematch as both hold World titles.
PS. Havent seen Jasmine fight since the card down in Melb in Dec last year.

I'd have Huni at #2 & Max McIntyre in there.

 

I can see Rahim Mundine improving he is training full time now his footwork and punches looked a lot sharper he just needs to be more active in the ring and use his jab more. He has no amateur background as he was playing Rugby League so I am sure they will bring him along slowly and match him carefully. You can see he has the speed and reflexes of his old man we just need to see if he can put it all together.

 

Where do you think that Berries kid would have factored in if he was still active?

 

He would be hovering around 6 to 10th he needed to rematch the Lynch kid not sure if he has talked it over with the team yet though? What do you think @Francis75

I don't keep up with current Aus boxing but how about an all time list. I would think something like this -

1. Ty "FAB 4" Cerminara. Whats there to say that hasn't already been said about the kid. Not only Aus best ever boxer but the worlds also. At one point he called out Kimbo Slice for a huge showcase blockbuster at the MCG but Slice ducked him. Would have been a career payday for both legends but as always boxing failed to deliver and give fans the fights they want.

2. Dale "Straw" Berries. Absolute class fighter. Incredibly slick with monster power BUT sub standard heart.

3. Les Mason. Aus own Muhammad Ali.

4. Danny "Grinning" Greeny. Aussie true blue fair dinkum all round bogans dream BUT stay well clear of him if you're a registered nurse on shift at Busselton Hospital. Had a career defining win over Danny Santiago who was the biggest name in all of boxing at the time. A household name in the United States.

5. Bob "Big Blob" Mirovic. Aus greatest ever heavyweight until Les Mason took over. Big Blob had zero quit in him. It didn't matter how many loses he had on his record he just wanted more. The more losses the better according to Big Blob.

6. Danni Geales. The pin up boy for a weird boxing forum poster called Socks. Socks would purchase Danni's yearly pin up calendar and reminisce about Danni's incredible efforts at MSG boxings mecca which brought humiliation to Aus boxing fans other than Mr Socks who probably still thinks Geales could become undisputed.

7. Sam SoliBums. Such an incredible boxer than even Dale "Straw" Berries couldn't hang with him in sparing. SoliBums was best known for quitting against Jermain Taylor and faking an injury in the aftermath to save face after talking some incredible BS in the lead up. Also remember Larry Merchant laugh and mock his garbage un-boxing style when he first appeared in the USA against Winky Wright.

8. Alex LOLeapai. Yet another class heavyweight that terrorized world boxing and came within a millimeter of upsetting Wlad Klitschko for all the marbles. LOLeapai promised he would be back to claim gold for Aussie fans but his career petered out and found himself boxing in what was a chicken outhouse building on a QLD card trying to regain his elite status. It never quite panned out for the kid. I'm sure the Klitschko's were relieved.

9. Anthony Mundine. The anti hero who everybody loved to hate. Had the rugby league bogan crowd eating out of his hand and forced them to take out payday loans and credit cards to afford to watch his spectacular PPV broadcasts. Not even Sugar Ray Leonard had all of his fights on ppv. Could probably still hang in todays worldwide scene and win a few trinkets on ppv of course.

10. Geoffrey "Marrikville Mauler" French. Owned the midget weight divisions in his day and also "purchased" a few rolex's in his day.

 

good list, and will add that Nikita Tszyu is another to have all his bouts on a ppv....so far

I don't know a lot about Australian boxing... so forgive me, but I'm guessing Kambosos is done now in you guys' minds?

I find it strange though considering he was a unified champion a few years ago and also fought for undisputed. Whereas someone like Tszyu only held one belt and didn't even successfully defend it. Hmmm...

 

11. Aussie Dave Nyika - On the precipice of world title glory. Under the Southern Cross he stands, a sprig of wattle in his hands.
12. Conor Wallace - Another one on the precipice but in a tough division.
13. Liam Wilson - Still there or thereabouts. Hasn't faded away.
14. Paulo Aokuso - Jeff should use this guy to prepare Timmy for Errol Spence. Bigger than Spence but also has speed & skill.
15. Max McIntyre - Young bloke making a name for himself at Super Middle. What about a fight with Jack Bowen?
16. Dylan Biggs - Beaudesert Storm would be a good opponent for Callum Peters. I've got 50 Caliber but it's an exciting fight.
17. George Kambosos Jr - Still the best Light Welter in the country. Former Undisputed World Champ.
18. Jason Moloney - A fight with Nonito Donaire would be worth seeing. Former WBO Bantamweight Champ.
19. Jye Dixon - Bloke most likely to deliver us a medal at the next Olympics. Our blokes have won one at the last two.
20. Jacob Cassar - Another amateur with great potential. One of the most skilful fighters in the country. Worth following.
21. Alex Leapai Jr - There are a number of other heavies who are currently better than Alex but he has more potential.

 

I think inactivity and hints of retirement make him hard to place atm.

One solid comeback win and I'm sure he fits in there somewhere.

That being said he arguably hasnt won a fight since Teo. Hughes was definitely contentious, Wyllie not so much but several people on here had it a draw.
