I cannot back someone who has quit twice previously (Usyk and Joyce) and tried to quit another time (Lerena), when that is his main weakness. Against someone whose main strength is fighting heart and will to win.

No one is doubting here that Dubois has the better wins on his resume, or is the more seasoned professional. However, we have his weakness matching up against the strength of an opponent. That rings alarm bells for DDD's chances of winning this fight.

I think Wardley drowns Dubois and yes makes him quit.

“the cauldron” is proper cringe and goes on too long. It must be crap for the fighters who are just in fight mode after the ceremonial weigh ins.

There was nothing wrong with the format of having a couple of quick questions for each fighter after the weigh in and then a faceoff. Too much talk is draining especially when it’s the same question all over again.

 

I’m not a fan of Simon Jordan but admittedly he’s an effective radio host. However, this showed how unskilled he is at basic interviewing techniques - he spent more time talking than the boxers did. It was as such about him promoting himself than the boxers - but he doesn’t realise he is doing it.
He also **** on the fight by bringing up Moses Itauma - he’s meant to be selling the show!

He’s essentially a casual boxing fan who has loads to say about the sport (that could be said about most of us on here) and he values his own opinion! It was a complete mess yesterday.

 

we know this from "up front" when he had people sitting there and kept talking. He is a proper narcissist. His partner is an absolute prat also who loves the sound of her own awful voice and accent. Their conversations must be two people talking over one another all the time.

 

Agree on “up front” - the interview with David Haye comes to mind where he wouldn’t let him finish a sentence. He’s very poor and unskilled in interviews because he prefer to be the one speaking.

He has a popular boxing show which could be a good thing, as there are more conversations on the sport. But his continued focus on what he says, like it matters, is beyond irritating. For example “I told Jermaine Franklin he would get knocked out” or I told Chisora “you always lose at world class”. No one cares what you said! Having listened to him I think he’s probably a strong casual fan and I don’t think his knowledge on sport would be better than most people on this forum. It’s fine and everyone has the right to an opinion, but the value he places on his opinion is off the chart. He’s also very thinned skinned, even though he carries that “ I don’t care” swagger - he def does!

Well put. I like SJ most of the times in his analysis of boxing and football but what really annoyed me was when he boldly told Willy Hutch to his face that he was going to lose. He’s not a promoter or manager and for a commentator who has never had a fight in his life speaking to a boxer like that is just way over the top.

He too often crosses the boundaries between making a prediction and just flat out disrespecting fighters.

 

See it all the time with these people that like to debate - it becomes more about talking over the other person & ‘winning’ the discussion. This is how you never develop any deep knowledge about a subject. Jordan is one of them

 

And yet the TalkSport Boxing podcast is rarely like that, if anything he owns up to dumb predictions and gives plenty room for debate with the regulars. It's a shame the show is polluted with Spencer Oliver but you can't have everything. Nice to see Duke McKenzie getting a turn now and again.
