Alexander Povetkin was one of the best boxers of the 2010s to never hold a major world title. David Tua was one of the best heavyweights of the 1990s to never win a major world title. Who wins in their primes? Personally, I’m leaning toward a late TKO for Tua after a Fight of the Year type slugfest, inside the first 6 rounds after being down on the scorecard.

Agree. Povetkin was much more skilled than Tua. I'll grant that Tua is stronger and tougher, but I think Povetkin would be able to nullify much of what Tua does while landing more than his fair share. Sasha might be lumped up at the end (they both would be) but I am fairly confident he'd win.

If Rahman, Maskaev, Izon and Oquendo can take him deep and outbox him for large stretches... None of them being particularly durable and not in the same class as Povetkin was.

    Povetkin TKO easily.
Tua had success against these big slow HW's for similar reasons Tyson did.
Povetkin is better in every way.

    Tua by KO.
Povetkin is more skilled, but his style plays into Tua power, and I think he gets caught. I don't think his chin holds up in a slugfest with Tua.
If we are taking them at their absolute best, Tua has crazy stamina and high punch volume, and carries the power for all 12 rounds.

I would disagree with the idea that David Tua only had success against big, slow heavyweights. He had wins over Doc Nicholson, Oquendo, Moorer (past his best, but still quick), and Rahman.

Vada testing or is Povetkin juiced to full capacity on Meldonium and Ostarine? How much of what made Sasha special came out of a bottle?

If it's Povetkin as he was, he beats Tua. If Povetkins clean, he loses.

It would be a slobber knocker for 6-7 rounds with Povetkin edging it but then Tua taking him out late with Povetkin blowing out of his RUSSIAN ARSE without the drugs in his arse or system or however he done it back in the day.

Good fight, could really go either way.

    Would bet on a draw.
