The only reason he didn’t stop the fight is because of his comeback vs Huni. But Dubois is much more powerful than Huni

His guiding philosophy is less "Hit and don't get hit" and more "forget defence, absorb everything with your face and try to land bigger"

 

Every time I hear Wardley talk, I find it notable how articulate and intelligent he sounds.

Then I realise he's willingly selected Ben Davidson as his trainer and realise intelligent or not, he has the judgement of an idiot.

 

The guy is exactly like David Brent.

Fury dropped Davison for the 2nd fight because he wanted to be aggressive and push Wilder back so went to the Kronk gym.

You're never going to teach an old dog new tricks with Wardley, he is what he is. No amateur experience, a late arrival to the sport, which gives him both advantages and disadvantages.

Davison's problem tonight was not pulling Wardley out.....You can't give Wardley a plan to fight like Tyson Fury, it just isn't going to happen. In fact Wardley should've been more aggressive after both knockdowns, instead of allowing Dubois to gain confidence.

 

I think the only things stopping Itauma from becoming unstoppable are whether he can take a shot and how soon he ditches Ben as a trainer. He will regress technically the longer he stays with him, and at his age, he's at a very important stage in his career.

 

At the very least, he could have fixed Wardleys guard. How hard is it to teach someone to hold their left hand higher? We aren’t talking some extraordinary technical skill. It is well known that right handed fighters need to keep their left hand high vs other right handed fighters who can throw big right hands.

 

I'm surprised he trains Itauma.

 

Yeah he's a bullshitter. Suprising a guy as bright as Fabio has fallen for it.

 

I think boxing fans severely overrate the impact a trainer can have.

If you think of all the most renowned trainers, most of them only ever really train one "Superstar". That's not a coincidence. And then that "Superstar" has generally trained with that same trainer from a very early age.
