Was and will be the FOTY. Brutal fight, and really hope Wardley is ok as he took a lot of punishment. His chin is truly something else. He is an absolute warrior.
It was brutal and gruelling, but was too one sided for most of the fight. There have been better fights this year than the one tonight. But to answer your question. Wardley, although his chin is shot.
Wardley's chin is scary. Too tough for his own good , his corner should have stopped the fight tonight . What a warrior
Head on block you could add Hughie Fury to that list,he showed an impressive set of whiskers back when he fought Parker and Povetkin, but tbh his career has seemed stop/start of late .
Usyk has insane durability, but as of late, he relies on actually seeing the shots coming and blocking and rolling with them. Wardley seems to have an unbelievable chin, but I’ve seen Hrgovic outlast Zhang and only lose to Dubois because of cuts. He took a lot of flush shots from Dubois and didn’t look like he really cared, whereas Fabio looked out on his feet from about round 5. Whether it was exhaustion, I don’t know. But in the face of repeated flush shots from Daniel, Hrgovic held his shape far better than Wardley did. Hrgovic has the best chin, and people are blinded by recency bias, and the fact that Fabio was a novice pro and has overachieved.
Usyk has a very good chin but he has the skills to not take consecutive punches. Wardley basically took a beating for 7 rounds straight against arguably the hardest puncher in the division and was never off his feet. It's probably the most brutal beating I've seen in recent years. Yeah Wilder took a pasting off Fury in their 2nd fight. But Fury isn't a big puncher like Dubois and Wardley basically had his face caved in by a massive puncher. I'd say it's between Wardley/Hrgovic basically because they haven't got the skills of Usyk. And they take way more flush punches so they rely heavily on their solid chins so it's basically their best asset.
