Yep, today's heavy weights look like really good tough man competitors, except for Usyk.

 

Could you make the argument that this is the title match with least skill displayed in all of boxing history?

 

I’m sure if we combed through Wilders bouts we would find something

 

Tonight was a fun night and a good fight for the division. I wouldn’t be too hard on these guys. Triple D got off the canvas twice, to beat a hard punching motivated contender that is impressive. Triple D also showed tremendous ring presence by taking a knee. Lot of guys would not have, and would have ended up being stopped. Wardley also showed a granite jaw and was a dangerous guy throughout. What we saw is it any different than a Foreman vs Lyle bout. Even Lewis and Vitali were stumbling around by round 4.
They may not be scientific masters but we got two guys tonight that were game as hell.

 

a Big strong lad slug fest, nothing exceptional about either one of them in the sense of great & exceptional Boxing, though capable giants...

now there lies the tale and a bit of proof to be asked of a few others, namely one TF, who would get laid out by any one of these guys at any stage of his career.

give us a Land of the Giants Super-Heavyweight Division please - 6' 4 or 5" and up please,
get rid of these giants and allow normal, more often than not better Boxers & fighters, sized HW's to compete against each other.

Wardley displayed tremendous guts and durability ,and Dubois revealed the heart and determination I doubted he had.
Dubois ' jab was the difference.I picked Wardley by ko, and I was dead wrong!
I thought it was terrific fight.

It ill behoves Gazelle etc ,to be talking about skill sets, if he wants a comparison,I suggest he watches! Marciano against Cockell !

Fights can be competitive and full of drama; demonstrate true grit and iron wills, at any level in the sport of boxing.

Wardley and Dubois deserve respect for their extreme efforts in a grueling match. However, despite this being a world title fight, it was not a display of world class boxing – to the extent that the OP's question is more or less moot.

 

Hmmm interesting that lower level Tua knocked upper level Moorer out in 30 seconds and like wise Golota beat up and retired Bowe. Foreman in the upper level in the 90s is wild too

6'5 270lb relentless Debois would have his way with a good amount of these. Some of them are pickem fights. He isn't beating Lennox but the rest he has a decent chance against or is clear favourite.

No one in Classic will like to hear it, but we know Holyfield is going to try and brawl with him, which isn't a good idea.

 

I enjoyed the heart of both men and the slug fest but there was no skill present. Marciano and Don (who could box) were more skilled than everyone today not named Usyk.

 

What skills if any do you feel they demonstrated

 

Tua would be favored, but he was so basic that one of them might actually jab their way to a decision.

Dubois would be a narrow favorite over Mercer (results don't lie). Mercer would be favored over Wardley unless he showed up in awful condition.

Both get Golota out while down on the cards.

Briggs would be an underdog against either due to his poor gas tank.

Stewart gets knocked out twice.

I assume Ike and Ruddock would beat them, but Dubois would be very live against Ruddock. Ike might also have been far worse than we think.

Both probably get Moorer out of there. Wardley would be losing until that point.

Dubois would beat McCall. McCall would beat Wardley.

95 Foreman would lose to Dubois and probably lose by like a point to Wardley.

Bowe, 91 Tyson, Holyfield, and Lewis beat both.
