Should Fabio Wardley retire? (Edited)

He will end up , like Ali, a vegetable, if he keeps fighting.

 

I voted no but he's a bit of a novelty character in boxing. A less refined Wilder with a better chin.

 

Somewhat, but he was relativley basic in his first stint as a pro. Obviously more fluid and had a good amatuer pedegree and fundementals but the point here being that it's possible to rewrite the script rather than it being a direct comparison between lewis and Wardley.

 

That was a horrible beating, I was genuinely afraid for his health. I would advise him to retire...If not. The first thing he should do is to ****ing sack his entire team, it was ****ing ridiculous.

 

Wardley will watch this fight back and regret everyone of those right hooks early on that kept sailing over the top of Dubois’s head,had his corner advised him to make the correct adjustments he may well could have got himself a different outcome tonight earlier in the fight,as th3 fight progressed Dubois clearly took over. Foster did not help either stopping the action early in the 7th with Wardley on top. Taking nothing away from Dubois tonight however that was a great win for him If it is indeed Itauma next for Dubois we will certainly see Itauma chin checked in that fight,who wins it I’m not sure but it could well be on par with what we seen tonight !

 

Wardley would be comparable to Ray Mercer, at best. Only Mercer never got his punch resistance broken until Wlad did it in Mercer's forties.

 

Yeah, that was a horror show. This era's brutality is super toned down comparative to previous ones, but this fight gave me Galindez vs Kates vibes. Looked like an ancient Aztec ritual. Historic beat down. And besides the fact Davison and Wylie didn't stop it, I'm baffled as to how Wylie, who clearly knows his **** given his now deleted videos, produced a fighter as unskilled as Wardley.

Wardley can punch and take a punch, but cannot actually fight to save his life. He knows how to throw a jab, a right hand, and he sometimes combines them in an easy to read 1-2 with a tell that comes straight out of Mike Tyson's Punch out. That's it.

Pure insanity.

 

Actually I'd say Mercer was a far more accomplished boxer than he's given credit for. Unfortunatley his prime was during one of the strongest heavyweight eras, and he only just came up short against Lewis and Holyfield.

Wilder is the closest comparison in terms of skill, but Wardley doesn't have Wilders pre-dmt arrogance so I'm certain he can change it up.

 

I was going by chin. Wilder is nowhere near Wardley in that category. Probably be similar after tonight though.

Yeah his nose is permanently damaged now an can’t be fixed. It busts open every single fight now an it ain’t just a nosebleed. It’s gonna fall off like michael Jackson’s did if he carry’s on. Boxers have retired before because of health reasons an physical injuries so a permanently damaged nose should be no different

 

Fabio's major attributes are his heart and his luck. He didn't have much left after his luck left town.

 

It’s too soon to say he should retire after one loss. That said Wardley needs more tools in his arsenal, he needs to sharpen up his timing, and needs to develop a good jab. He’s still young enough to still improve in my opinion.

It’s one thing to win a title, but keeping it requires continuing to step your game up. Size and power will only bail you out so much.

No, he probably should take the rest of the year off and come back with a touch up fight before throwing himself back in this mix, Wilder would be an easy W that would give him more cred with casuals but IDK if Wilder takes that fight.
