Wardley is the kind of fighter who is highly dependent on his power but doesn't have much else going in terms of skills although his heart and toughness helps him get as far as he could. There's been plenty of fighters in the past who have limited skills with poor defense but were very dangerous punchers with zero quit in them that were capable of ending a fight with one punch at any given moment. Who are some similar fighters that spring to mind?
The British version of Deontay Wilder in all honesty. But much more likeable. You could even say Wardley/Dubois was similar to Wilder/Fury 3. They both scored 2 knockdown early but then took a battering in the 2nd half of the fight.
British Wilder but slightly more versatility also his chin is granite. I overestimated Wardleys capabilities but his chin is confirmed to be a stone slab. He should not have survived than many shots without going down, or perhaps part of that was just pure mental stubbornness on his end
As said above and as I've said previously, he is Wilder 2.0. Awkward, explosive, technically poor, devastating power and both often score KO's whilst behind on the cards.
He's Dubois' soulmate, his second half. One looks like Homer Simpson, the other takes a punch like Homer Simpson.
Deontay Wilder and Joe Joyce - except even these two, both Olympic medallists, showed far more boxing skill than Wardley has ever produced To his credit though, he has a better chin, and outside the ring Wardley shows more charisma and is more articulate
Good mention on Little Red. Lopez was practically like the Featherweight version of Julian Jackson of his time.
Bigger worse at boxing Curtis Sheppard. Wardley doesn't have anything close to Wilder power and hes not as good as Wilder. Wilder didn't actually need the KO to win almost any of his fights. But he landed it consistently regardless which Wardley cannot do. You are all blinded by your hate of Wilder you'll look at a fighter whose worse then Wilder in every way and say hes better.
yes and just like wardley he had a fantastic chin. the flipside of that is like wardley he took some hellacious beatings
Not a perfect comparison but in some ways like a more athletic but less technically cute Dillian Whyte. Both have sloppy foot work wild swingers neither are technically great but both are all heart both have a powerful single-shot with the right hand and left hook respectively and both have had solid if not spectacular careers...and both managed to beat the more skilled Joe Parker lmao
