Usyk vs Itauma: compare them from a technical stadpoint

Its hard to compare one when one just hasn't fought that calibre of opposition.

The better the opposition, the more flaws that they will expose.

 

We need to see more from both fighters tbh. We've seen Usyk against Fury and two stiffs in the form of AJ/Dubios (but not really any other type of style), and we haven't seen Itauma against anywhere near the same level of opposition yet.

Itauma vs Dubios would answer a lot of questions there imo.

 

You guys say Wardley didn't have amateur experience well what does Itauma have? He never got past youths level amateur bouts vs guys with 10 bouts amateur records which we can compare to Usyk who was world level facing and medaling the best boxers in the world. Usyk has 330+ amateur record vs opponents with similar types of records the best of the very best.

 

Moses has the better right hooks, especially that right hook he brings inside his opponents' lead hand, and the check hook he KOed a guy with last year. Usyk has better feints, a better jab and his straight left isn't as hard but it's a lot more useful. Usyk has better combos too, but he's always been a little bit of an arm puncher when he's flurrying. Moses might be able to do better pure hitting in shorter combos (2/3 punch combos).

Usyk is clearly better defensively imo.

 

One guy is a world champion. The other is yet another heavyweight hype job. Until proven otherwise.

 

Moses has greater power but that's about it.

One thing i assume is that itauma depends on 'full consciousness'. He does everything with total focus. i think he depends on it, but also is able to make great use of it.

Usyk on automatic mode is still amazingly good. I assume it is not the same with itauma, who is young and not as deeply schooled as usyk is. But that is just a hunch.

Usyk is way smarter and wayyyy more experienced. Better footwork. List goes on. And I really don’t think there’s that much difference in power either. People keep sleeping on Usyk’s power! He’s grown into heavyweight quite well

 

I will stick my neck out and call it Itauma via KO.

 

They're very similar in many aspects

They're both great at fainting in range and keeping the opponent mentally switched on working even when Usyk/itauma aren't throwing a punch, this tires out opponents.

They have by a distance the best footwork in the division, Itauma's footwork to get in and out v Franklin was pretty special imo.

They're both southpaw, so negate each others significant advantage

They are both hard to hit

They both have elite boxing IQ imo, Itauma has to prove his against better opponents

Itauma is a better finisher and knockout puncher

Where Usyk is clearly proven already, is elite chin, elite stamina, elite ability to fight in deep waters. Only when we see Itaumas strength in these areas will we know if he's the real deal or not. From purely a skills perspective, I think he is potentially in the same ball park.

 

usyk has the ring smarts, moses has the physical gifts. if moses has the head to learn what usyk already knows, he can be better. right now he doesnt have the experience to intelligently set up his offence and negate his opponents advantages, maybe because he hasnt needed to at this level, but its not always going to be cake.

 

Hrgovic will last as long as Franklin did maybe less.

 

Itauma's experience comes from sparring men from 15 yo. Its not the same but it's not nothing either. Also, Itauma has a better technique than anyone else with his limited armature back ground. Again, it's not the same thing but it's not nothing.
I can't see Itauma beating Usyk unless Oleksandr has aged overnight
