Do you think Ben Davisons tough cornerman tactic has ruined Wardley?

Wardley will be fine, he's tough as hell and he'll come back stronger.

 

He will come back as Joe Joyce Jnr should he continue.

Never seen anyone the same again after such a brutal beating.

Wardley has proved himself as a genuine warrior, has the heart of a lion, has had a great run earning very good money but his run is over.

The time his legs were gone coming out to start a round annoyed me as any trainer caring about their man would have thrown the towel.

This looked 10 times worse than the beating Jeff Lacey took from Joe Calzaghe and Lacey was a shell of the fighter after that fight.

Great effort by both in the ring and both these World Heavyweight Champions are a credit to British Boxing.

 

Lacy suffered a suffered a severe torn rotator cuff in his next fight against a guy he'd struggled with first time around, Clazaghe hammered Lacy no doubt but its not that cut and dried.


I think Fabio still has a few big nights in him. I think his lack of amertuer career probably means he doesn't dominate but he'd be fun to watch Vs AJ, Fury, Kabayel, etc

 

Fury would box the head off him for 12 rounds. He will stop AJ, kabayel is a great fight

 

The Calzaghe v Lacy fight is different. Lacy was destroyed by Calzaghe, who gave us a technical masterclass, it was utterly bewildering for Lacy as it was something he'd never experienced before and never saw coming. Calzaghe dominated. Wardley put Dubios on his backside within ten seconds.

 

There is a huge differential between the power of Joe Calzaghe and Daniel Dubois.

That sustained beating is the most severe any of us have seen in a UK ring and both the trainer and ref should have a good look at themselves.

There is no coming back from that beating and hope he retires a proud warrior rather than continue and become a punchbag.

 

Tommy Morrison was literally almost killed by Ray Mercer in the worst beating I’ve ever seen, but came back from it fine.

This! I was cheering Wardley all the way but once it was clear what was going to happen i was shouting at the TV for the corner or ref to stop it. It was an ugly sight and a bad look for the sport.

Wardley activated the rematch clause

 

He cannot be in that bad shape physically and mentally, if he has triggered the rematch clause. Clearly fancies another go at Dubois in a rematch!

 

He didn't even stay overnight in hospital which I found crazy

 

Triggering the clause doesn't mean they'll rematch anytime soon, it just enforces his contractual rights and he'd have been daft not to take it. If Dubois just doesn't want to do it or the WBO gets in the way somehow, he'll get some money.

He does seem confident though, the first Clarke fight was almost as gruelling (albeit against a lesser puncher) and we saw how that went.

You'd imagine the healing time on the nose and medical advice on brain scans and so on, would hold him off a good few months regardless.

 

Yes and with Frank promoting both fighters it makes it easier for dubois to take another fight before the time scale runs out on the clause
