Wardley activates rematch clause with Dubois

Too brave for his own good.

 

Respect to Wardley, warrior.

 

To have a chance of winning, Wardley will need an honest referee who will stop Dubois from headbutting and using other illegal tactics.

Once Dubois damaged his eye with the head butt, Wardley couldn't see the punches coming and was getting hit a lot. Hrgovic had the same problem against Dubois.

But is there an honest boxing referee in the UK?

 

I really hope that Wardley doesn't take another outrageous beating like he did in the first fight. But its looking likely not gonna lie, I pray this isn't his Liston vs Patterson 2/ Zhang vs Joyce 2 moment.

 

Shame Wardley came to boxing so late. The heart of a lion.

This is one of those situations where he should take a step back, work on stuff in the gym (obviously fire Ben Davison first and get a real trainer), then come back for another go. The gulf in skill between him and Dubois is too much right now.

This isn't a Joshua situation where people say he's "learning on the job and only getting better" to cope. No, Wardley could learn a LOT in a year with a good trainer. He specifically needs to work on varying his right hand. I don't think he can develop an elite left hook quickly, but he can do a lot more with his right hand which Dubois had figured out by round 3.

 

Do you think he can realistically learn that within the time for the rematch and then use it when things heat up? Doubtful. Probably returns to type after eating a few jabs

 

Ironically, Dubois looked faster in Usyk 2 than vs Wardley. He looked heavier and more sluggish vs Wardley.

 

Fabio is a true warrior, I have a lot of respect for him. But I don't think the rematch could have ended any differently. After a tough start, Dubois took time and distance from Wardley, inflicting increasing damage round after round. I hope I'm wrong, as you've seen I appreciate Fabio, but I'll say Dubois by stoppage again.

 

More than 1%.

Continuing to do nothing other than throw wild hayemakers round after round, after they'd been evaded and countered for several rounds, is not only a damming indictment on Fabio's ring IQ (who incidentally is a bright enough bloke outside the ring), but yet another on what a terrible trainer Davidson is.

If Wardley doesn't have the sense to change trainers, he'll deserve the beat down that will invetibly come his way.

 

At least the Liston-Patterson rematch was a quick and efficient mercy killing.

 

That's his right, but I think Dubois would beat him even more easily in a rematch...
