Why do people say that '88 and 86' Version of Tyson is the best but not '87 ??

    people usually said 86-88 not 86 & 88

    You'll have to ask those persons, i refer to Tyson 86/88 as being at his best, i wouldn't specifically pick out 87' as he was on a similar level through-out those years, we then saw a slight dip in 89', followed by a huge drop in 90' when he was beaten & he never regained that level despite a successful comeback in 91' & 96'.
