Who the hell in their right mind made Tito a favourite over BHop?

Hopkins should always have been the favourite in that meeting.

 

Like taking candy from a baby. That was one of the more sure underdog picks. But Tito must have been on one hell of a run, because not many people on these boards picked Hopkins, going into the fight. Tito was the favorite on these boards, too.. not just in Vegas.

 

The original thread was "When you knew a fighter would lose," not "When you knew a fighter would lose against the underdog."

I was just saying the thread title changed. Some people answered the thread before the caveat of a fighter losing to an underdog. Examples:

No need for the hostility.

 

I actually backed Kambosos to win by spilt decision at 100/1 and won 2k that night.
I had a feeling in the build up that Kambosos wanted it more especially after Lopez had already put back the date.

I backed a split decision as I figured with Lopez being the A side they would at least have 1 judge in their pocket

 

Despite being a heavy betting favorite, I was pretty confident that Timmy would get flat-lined against Bakhram Murtazaliev.
And Timmy was smashed with Murtazaliev scoring a TKO in the third round.

(To this day, I don't understand why the bookmakers had Pavlik as the clear favorite when he wasn't strong enough above middleweight.)

There was this day back in 2023 where I picked three upsets in the same afternoon. Billam-Smith over Okolie, Wood over Lara in the rematch and Lopez over Conlan. That had me feeling pretty cocky about my boxing picks for awhile

Last year I also called Takuma beating Nasukawa and Aleem over Nakano, but the big one earlier in the year was Dickens over Batyrgaziev. Dickens can be very hot and cold but he was plenty fired up in his previous fight, and Batyrgaziev was just coming off of getting floored twice by a guy who didn't have the biggest punch in the world. Still, even I was surprised at how early Dickens got him out. I was expecting a points win or a late stoppage, but then he went and knocked his ass out in 4!

 

David Price vs David Allen (Knew Price often capitulated due to not being able to keep up with pressure and work rate from opponents, whereas Allen often doesn’t go through the gears)

Daniel Dubois vs Fabio Wardley (Dubois was a very slight underdog with polls on here) I saw that Fabio Wardley had struggled fundamentally with guys who weren’t on the level of Dubois, and knew Fabio Wardley had often had to take many jabs, which you can do against most, but I knew you can’t afford to ‘just take the jab’ against Dubois.

Joseph Parker vs Zhilei Zhang (I felt Parker had the style to take this at the time)

Dmitry Bivol vs Canelo Alvarez (Knew Bivol was an elite 175lbs fighter, and felt it’d be too much for Canelo) Bivol was more unproven at the time, and Canelo was at the peak of his career, so Bivol was quite an underdog.
