Looks like Allen knows this is last chance saloon and has actually come in at a decent weight and in good shape.

That said, he’ll need the performance of his life and Hrgovic to seriously underperform for this not to turn into a 10 round beatdown. Maybe the 10 rounds helps Dave a bit - can let his hands go, nick a few rounds here and there, maybe even outhustle Filip if he turns up flat or gets cut.

But it’s a big ask, especially given the Doncaster De La Hoya’s history.

 

Allen's got a puncher's chance, I suppose. It is heavyweight boxing and stranger things have happened.

Thoughts on Gomez Jnr and McGregor?

 

Being under 18st for me shows Allen has at least trained hard. His career is remarkable given what he has achieved with such self admitted lack of discipline in training and the kitchen. Do I give him a chance? In all honesty, no. But there IS a big question over how much Hrgovic wants to fight. I've often thought his lack of gas tank and sometimes lackadaisacal approach has been indicative of not being in love with boxing rather than any systemic failing. A fighter with his talent should have blown Dempsey McKean away and should not have to engage in a war with David Adelaye. But boy is he talented.

To have any success Allen has to engage in the dark arts, which he has done with some success for years and work the body, above and perhaps below the belt line from the first bell. If you can make Hrgovic stop fancying it he goes into cruise control. The realist in me says Dave gets battered though....
