Didn't Hrgovic lose to Dubois because "Mental Midget" Dubois showed more heart?

People in glass houses and all that...

It's pretty obvious that Dubois isn't a mental midget, now isn't it? Which is precisely why I picked Dubois to stop Hrgovic.

...or he'll walk straight onto a barrage, look lost and confused and stumble off to a random corner. It'll be a fun fight

Dubois showed more dirty tactics, like head butts cutting Hrgovic over both eyes.

Notice one more thing. People talk about Filip hitting the back of the head. No. He hits hard, and opponents often try to protect themselves from these blows in rather unusual ways.
Allen didn't turn around today, but at times, all he needed was a crouch and a forward roll to protect himself from Filip's punches.
Hrgovic's punches must hurt. He's probably not a typical puncher like Wlad Klitschko or Wilder. He's more like the older Klitschko brother.
That's why, in my opinion, he should relax a bit in some fights and focus a bit more on breaking things up than "killing."
More jab, more ease with his punches. I still feel like he's so eager to show his full potential right away that it often backfires on him unnecessarily. Especially since he should be a lot faster than most of these guys, boxing calmly.
Of course, he could afford all of that today, because Allen's only chance was to land a swinging flail.

But overall, he should throw a lot of punches, which he usually does, but conserve more energy to throw his best shots with full force in better situations than just hitting the "turtle" or shooting blindly.

A hard jab, hitting the pork loins, and a right hand at opportune moments. Carefully considered exchanges. Especially against punchers like Dubois or Itauma.

How do you think a rematch between DDD & Hrgovic goes? I'd still like to see it, gives Filip a shot at the strap

As much **** as I've given Filip over the years, it's because I've wanted to see this version. That's the kind of passion and spitefulness that he's been missing. Sure, he'll have to be a bit more circumspect against Itauma, but if he can back him into the corner effectively and I think he can. Itauma will mentally crumble in record time.

he’s a chin check for anyone. Because that right hand is thrown constantly and lands constantly. If there’s glass, he’ll find it.

I was also banking on Hrgovic not being mentally right for that match, he'd been off his game and dispassionate for quite some time. Clearly after his recent string of success, his head is in the game now, and he's super focused. So I'm not sure I'd be as willing to pick Dubois in the rematch. Obviously Hrgovic will take him a lot more seriously this time around.

in fairness, he understood the homework assignment here. He needed to batter the hell out of Allen, look good doing it, to set up his big Ituama chance/payday. Easy to do when it’s a clear mismatch.
