Filip Hrgovic vs Moses Itauma: who will win?

Agree good test this, not sure it’s too soon, there’s a lot of itauma hype- let’s see if they are right, can’t fight bums/has beens forever it’s put up or shut up time now

Don’t think he’ll struggle with hgrovic personally just because of the speed/skillset but will he stop him? And if so how early

 

Could be interesting if Hrgovic can take some shots. I pick Itauma just based on talent. But I can see an inexperienced Itauma getting tired and stopped or losing a decision on inactivity.

 

I'm going with Hrgovic. I rate experience a great deal. Maybe that's wrong, but I just can't bet on someone as unproven as Itauma. The guy has never even beaten a live body but now he's expected to beat Hrgovic who is a top 5 guy and has been in there with Zhang, Joyce, Dubois, Adeleye and a lot of good fighters in the amateurs too.

 

I think Itauma finally gets some rounds in, Hrgovic weathers the early storm, picks up some late rounds, but loses a clear but close decision.

 

I like Hyrgovic but Itauma is all wrong for him with his footwork and explosive bursts.

We all want to see what Itauma has got in the chin and courage department but I dont think we'll find out here, i personally think Itauma puts out a real statement performance and knocks Hyrgovic out in 6.

 

Hrgovic only has one quality win. He's barely more proven than Itauma

 

Hrgovic is Ituama’s final exam. If Ituama passes with flying colors, he’s going to wreck the entire division. Like, a young and upcoming Mike Tyson style. It’ll be that bad.

but, as you point out, there’s a lot we don’t know about Ituama. We know everything about Filip. He’s battle tested. He’s pretty good. Not great (on the world level; we just saw what he does to a guy not on the world level). He’s durable as hell. He’s excellent at finding and timing openings, as supported by his compubox stats; slow and robotic as we can he is, he knows where an opening is and he knows exactly when to throw at that opening to hit it with his right. He’s brave, gives zero ****s about being hit. There’s a lot of local reasons to conclude that if Moses ISNT what he’s claimed to be, Hrgovic is going to expose that **** real quick.

That said, I think Moses is the real deal and is going to wreck the entire division. Including Hrgovic.

 

I doubt the fight is made. Herg looked to dangerous vs Allen.

 

Filip has an infinate number of quality wins more than Moses

 

This is a great test for Itauma imo. If he's chinny (as I and a few others have suspected) then Hrgovic will find him out with his ultra accurate right hands. He's not quite a puncher though, so if Itauma's boxing (and chin) is good enough then no need to worry about hail mary shots. His insane chin almost totally guarantees that the bout goes to decision, so we'll see Itauma's stamina and, possibly, heart tested. We've seen how Hrgovic deals with adversity and fatigue, whereas Itauma is totally unseasoned in regards to physical and mental pressure.

If Itauma does manage to dominate and stop Hrgovic in the first half then I will legitimately be sold on all the hype for him.

Why do you suspect is chinny? I'm curious, the only two people I've seen say this are Billy Nelson and Chisora. Billy, I suspect, had an ulterior motive in selling Bakole as the next Riddick Bowe because he was his promoter/trainer. Chisora is pickled and changes like the wind depending on what will get him the most clicks online.

On the flipside, Shane McGuigan has come out and said Itauma slapped Dubois around in sparring, Anthony Yarde has said he's seen him spar countless rounds, and there's no problem with his chin. I'm more inclined to believe he has at least a decent chin, rather than a bad one, as there'd be a lot more solid evidence about it. I think he was down once as an amateur, which is pretty good going considering he won the Europeans and the Worlds as a junior amateur.

 

I think this fight will tell us more about Itauma than Hrgovic,this surprisingly tbf is a good match up,Warren must really fancy Itauma putting him in with Hrgovic . Being honest I’m not sure how this fight goes,Itauma has power and speed but that’s all we know so far,he has not had any adversity in his career so far and I do think Hrgovic should be able to answer a few questions about him if nothing else.

 

It's easy to tend toward absolutes, but I don't think it's appropriate in this case. I would have Itauma as a moderate favourite; I'm certain he will start quicker, and he may stun or hurt Hrgovic in the early rounds, and given Warren will probably have buttered all the right bread beforehand I don't think the referee will hesitate in stepping in to award Itauma the stoppage. However if Hrgovic can maintain the distance early on and stay out of trouble I think he has an excellent chance going in to the later rounds; as Itauma's fights have all been one-sided they only elucidate hints as to his deficiencies, but I have seen enough that I have questions about his stamina. A finale where Hrgovic is pouring it on a tired Itauma to stop him is not out of the question.
