Justis Huni vs Deontay Wilder in Australia

Huni is going to humiliate Wilder, and I am all for it!
It will be a repeat of the Parker fight.

 

This is standard operating procedure for Hearn. He throws several big names out as potential opponents which ensures more media coverage and buzz whilst also planting the seeds for the actual fight, in this case Riakporhe, who is not a big name and wouldn't generate much of a reaction without the idea that it may be Wilder or Chisora etc.

Huni would make zero sense for Wilder, there wouldn't be a lot of money and it would endanger the chances of Deontay getting one last big payday, potentially against Fury, AJ or Usyk.

Professional boxing is controlled by money. Most of the money has traditionally been in North America. Britain's ascension to the top tier of the sport is relatively recent but with a population of 70 million it's obviously a richer market than Australia. Japan dominates the lower weight divisions the same way. When you have most of the money, it's relatively easy to control the sport. That's why America & Britain get to appoint their own officials to referee & adjudicate on professional fights. Australia can only match the money those other countries can offer for fights when either the fighter in question is popular enough to generate big interest or the event is on a scale to support it. Fortunately, our blokes don't mind hitting the road in order to prove themselves. If any of our guys are good enough to claim a big title in the future, hopefully we will see more top fighters making the trip to Australia in order to contest it. Winter's on the way here currently. Will be good to see the British/Irish bloke defend here against Liam Paro in June, Spence here in July & maybe a decent international heavy against Huni in August to get us through.

Likely goes like Huni’s fight with Wardley did. Wins every round until he’s caught.

although I don’t know if Wilder still has the one-punch KO power anymore. He can certainly still hit, he dropped and hurt Chisora which ain’t nothing. But I don’t think it’s what it was.

 

their first fight was sloppy but fun entertainment, and they were pretty well matched. I see no issue with them running it back.

 

Huni will get the stoppage.

That should really test Huni, Riakporhe is a KO specialist and no slouch. He has beaten two top English cruisers in Billam-Smith and Massey, while losing a rematch with CBS more recently in his only pro defeat, but might be slowing with age. Get it on lads!
