Just watched a minute of Rico box and kickbox

Why are they even talking like there is a chance? Saying stupid stuff like he's never this before, seen what a total amatuer upright plumb? He saw that against AJ and when he was boxing as a teenager before he's even gone 6 rounds.

Im actually very nervous for this fight

There is way too much on the line, any success Rico has will be weaponized to undermine Usyk and boxing as a sport, I know nothing of Rico but one would imagine you have to be a quality fighter to go undefeated as champion for 10 years. Hes a kickboxer hes not an mma fighter, so hes trained extensively with his hands, and he doesnt even have to win, just do good, and its a loss for boxing and usyk.

I hope Usyk dominates but I have a feeling its not going to be a good weekend for boxing as I think theres a high chance Usyk 'struggles' more then the world thinks he should and we will hear again for the 100th time how overrated boxing is and also Usyks stock will take a hit.

    Hope Im wrong.

    Wish Usyk would just retire.

We about to find out this was really the Rico era all along.

As @Rumsfeld said, this guy has been undefeated since 2015! He beats Usyk and you can forget about Fury, Joshua, whoever: Rico will have been the real successor to Klitschko.

Lol. Rico has literally no chance at all. He doesn't even KO guys in kickboxing and his only chance would have been a puncher's chance.

I had no idea that a boxer, namely Holly Holm, already crossed over and won a UFC title.

I do remember that Ray Mercer knocked out Tim Sylvia in seconds.

Boxing has already won the argument, even with the Fury humiliation. They can weaponize anything they want, boxers have already proven to make good MMA fighters, and no MMA fighter is going to compete without learning some boxing.

I think all combat sports fans are just going to have to accept that cross-fertilization has always been a thing, and it is just going to increase over time now.

So, everybody gets that the real point of this event is for Hamzah Sheeraz to fight for a world title in front of a pyramid right? You can’t build an event that big around Hamzah, so they use Usyk as the official draw. But the real point is Hamzah. Someone with Arab blood fighting for a world title in front of a pyramid. And Hamzah is going to wreck that dude btw.

Now that I heard about 2027 as the date of Kabayel, I honestly think Turkyi is trying to run out the clock with Usyk, and split titles off that he can work with. Two birds with one stone, here.

I'd be pretty surprised if Rico had anything resembling any real success at any point along the way. But I suppose stranger things have happened.

While Usyk will likely win east, eventually a kick-boxer or mma guy will beat a world champ boxer in an upset and boxing as a sport will be embarrassed. And is, as fans, will be embarrassed by extension.

    I concur.

Rico is a big ol unit, in damned good shape, a dominant champion in his own right, and as a result will be as mentally tough as Usyk.

Usyk rightly is the big odds favourite, but i cannot see Rico having accepted this fight if he believed that he would lose in humiliating fashion, unless he sees the likely massive purse that will dwarf any purse he got in kickboxing, as a satisfying compensation for being a Usyk punchbag.

I'm ashamed, I posted my thoughts on X to IB, and forgot to post them here. Well... here they are.

"The fight is 100% legit, UTF encourage me to check out some of his matches. Rico is very skilled, one of the kickboxing goats. He's been a long time sparring partner for Tyson Fury, and kickboxers make the transition to the sport a lot better than MMA grapplers. I think Rico it's going to bring it and give a very good showing of himself. He's more skilled than 80 or 90% of the current heavyweight field."
