Jokes aside, boxrec actually has his ranking right here. This dude is clearly not even in the top 50, and should be nowhere near world class.
At #66 he is not ranked high enough to even challenge for the EBU title.

 

Trying to manifest Hamzah Sheeraz vs Jacob Bank; Sheeraz will be flummoxed by the nordic slickness.

 

Must say I’m VERY disappointed with this card.

 

At least Verhoeven has been training the boxing side with a very good coach in Peter Fury long term and didn't just suddenly hire a top trainer for this one occasion. I don't think it makes that much difference but it adds at least a little intrigue.

 

His GOAT staus comes from Errol Spence, life and death with Madrimov (who lost to Ortiz since) and beating a declining Canelo.

It's crazy how low the bar is set and how much value is set upon an undefeated record.

 

Indeed ... There was a German newspaper article on him where he basically said "boxing is (only) a hobby of mine", lol.

 

Please be competitive for a few rounds at least.

I don't dis

I don't dislike Torrez. My sense is he is a good guy but I get tired of when they move people like him up through the rankings when he is not deserving. They so badly wanted him to succeed. He just isn't the caliber of the upper level fighters. I hadn't listened at all to the pre-fight commentary but I gather they were thinking Torrez was or should have been the favorite. That is crazy talk. Even though Sanchez is getting a bit older, he is by far the bigger, tougher man. He beat Ajagba. He only had one loss on his resume. He has fought the tougher competition. Personally, I think Torrez ought to get out of boxing. He has no future there and is only going to get hurt.

It's crazy that they had Torrez ranked below Ajagba and above Gassiev.

 

Hopefully Torrez jr. can take a joke better than he can take a punch.
