Those who are crying about Rico not getting his 1 minute

Usyk is a disgrace. He made boxing look like a joke tonight. Rico should have been done in rd 2.

60 seconds to recover for a pro fighter like Rico could have been really life changing. That was last round and could have been the round of his life and he should have had enough to hold on. He is not new to a sport and got spirit. At the same time Usyk doesn’t have the tank as he had so he wouldn’t be able to push all second round. So yes Rico was robbed.

For judges though it was the best option as in case if Rico survived round 12 or even worser got a second or third breath, then decision would have went to cards, that were even more disgusting than a stoppage.

Exactly why I was fine with the stoppage. The dodgy mouthguard time was going to save him.

 

He spit out his mouthpiece to buy time, wobbled to the corner during the break he bought himself and still couldn’t defend himself when the action started.

If the ref hadn’t given him time by replacing his mouthpiece he wouldn’t have had a chance.

 

Agree, obviously time tricks were in play and it just proves even more than Rico had still something in him. Also would give Rico a pass on that as it is his second pro match and against number 1 HW. Wouldn’t give it to Fury or any other decent boxer.

 

He was standing with guard up and defending, that’s more than enough to give at least to recover 60 seconds and start round 12, we even don’t know may be Usyk wouldn’t have enough tank to push further or Rico finding that second or third breath to finish the round 12.

 

Look at Rico's face, man. Everyone acting like Usyk got completely crushed and did nothing in there until the very end, lol. Usyk whopped this dude.

Based on what I saw tonight Verhoeven would **** fury up. I do t know if Verhoeven can keep the same energy as he did for his big shot but he legitimately fought a great fight.

 

I dont want to steal a quote from someone (ATG848), but I am quoting someone from YT about "not getting the 1 minute"

Some truth to that. Rico got hit in his career by much worser then Usyk s punch, who is a good but not all-time puncher, and I doubt even Shavers, Wilder or Foreman could generate like a 1 ton or more power in their punches, what elite kickboxers can generate in their kicks. Rico said a couple weeks ago getting a knee or ellbow in the face is different as a boxing glove, absolute true.

 

He wasn’t defending anything lol. He got hit with everything Usyk threw.

 

But with Usyk it's the accumulative effect. He throws accurate barrages which arguably have twice the effect of a one punch knockout artist.

 

Usyk had him dialed in. Finally. Lol Usyk was going to unload on him in the 12th and most likely beat the **** out of him to the point of a stoppage or at the very least another knock down or two.

Usyk was on his way to victory. His best showing… absolutely not! He’s also 38!! Going on 39. Where was Tyson, Lewis or Holyfield at age 38 again??? Were they performing as good as their late 20’s or early 30’s??? Exactly

It is a fair point that he spat the gum shield out to buy some time, so you can factor that into considering whether he would’ve been stopped much more conclusively if he’d had another fifteen seconds. It is an underhanded trick but if you take the point and can survive it’s better than being counted out isn’t it? He did that so he could survive into the 12th but the ref never gave him a chance.
