Usyk was saved by the ref dominated by a kickboxer Fury arguably lost to Nganou Tank Davis lost to Roach then retired Loma was robbed vs Haney Charlo and Spence took 3 years off Opetai stripped of his IBF Belt another weak division now Crawford retired GGG coming back like Loma Ryan Garcia beat a paper champion who couldn't beat a 47 year old Pacquaio Mayweather fighting pro at 50 Youtubers more famous than pro boxers Too many weak divisions and inactivity. Today was a farce. Usyk hit him after the bell and the ref waved it off. They robbed that man just like they would have done on the Score cards. Boxing should be called money. The sport of money. I'm seeing guys in line for title shots who have been flat lined only a few fights ago.
Youtubers, kickboxers and MMA fighters are making a mockery of it. Inactivity and ducking opponents is paramount. The sport of boxing is the worst I've ever seen it. Too many weak champions.
MP I think you could go in there and beat over half the guys in your division. The sport of boxing needs guys like you. More guts less Money.
They're way too inactive. Usyk's last fight was in july last year, and his comeback fight was vs Rico. It's not good enough.
Agreed about the youtubers etc....but disagree about the champions. I think it's evolved. The hardmen of the past are just average fighters of the present.
It has to be undeniable now, surely? As you pointed out we've now had Fury- Ngannou and Usyk-Rico, Ngannou got robbed and it took a hail Mary uppercut to stop Rico ( early but he's not surviving the 12th ). Youtubers, like Paul, lasting rounds with ex champions like Joshua. Professional boxers are no longer the top of the food chain and it pains me to say it. It seems quite undeniable that top level competitors in MMA and Kickboxing are superior fighters nowadays. Even MacGregor was beating Mayweather until he gassed. Professional boxers continue to be embarrassed.
I've seen world ranked pros get their ass kicked by guys with **** all or no professional experience.
the quantity of real talent is at an all time low. there are still some legit great fighters out there, but not enough top shelf opposition to make great fights against them. fighters just dont fight enough today to elevate the overall level of competition. the real progress happens in the ring, not so much in the gym. thats why you have guys like lopez considred p4p and then being made to look like an amateur. because looking great against mediocre opposition doesnt prepare you for real elite competition.
Yes, that's how it goes. Same would've happened in any era, hypothetically. Difference is, back then, there was no opportunity for it to happen.
I was going to reply with an emoticon but I learned in dyslexia class that men aren't supposed to display their emoticons in public. So...if you'll DM me, I'll square this away.
Come back when kickboxer actually drops boxing champ. Both Ngannou and Rico are 120kg monsters with lots of fighting experience, albeit not in boxing. I bet you'd argue that Khabib is a bad wrestler because it was tough for him to submit Rico?
I just watched an entertaining fight at the pyramids in which and aging champ pulled it out in the 11th. Good stuff to me.
