If we took it that these 4 and others are on their way - and eventually one of these are going to be pushing their way into the title contention zone ... how are they going to go against the younger Brits who are already ranked, and outsiders with potential like Teremoana? Who of these are most likely to be in title fights down the track? Who else is an obvious ommision from the emerging eastern pack with top 5 potential at HW?
I don't know and I am not going to talk out of my ass, but I am a fan of Dronov. He was a world youth champion, he's 24, 6'5" or so, trained by Sugar Hill, he's sparred with Fury and other good fighters, and not only does he fight frequently, but he picks up extra rounds in that one-round fight league. I think by the time he's 27-28 he's going to be ready for a big fight. Suslenkov looks like a bit of a plodder.
Thanks. Surov and Dronov both look to be a safe bet to, bar injuries, in the rankings mix sooner than later. Being non-UK-US fighting frequently is going to be way to make waves and stay in people's minds.
I think, out of all the potential next-generation fighters, Itauma and Teremoana have styles best suited to the pros. Surov looks solid, but it can be hard to map good EE amateurs into the pros. Povetkin was unstoppable in the amateurs, and while he had a great career, he wasn't a world beater, either. I'll definitely keep an eye on Surov, but there have been plenty of top amateurs who don't really transition into the 12x3 rounds. Jalolov is another good example - a monster as an amateur but looks like he's already hit his ceiling as a pro.
Yeh, I agree above that is hard to gauge at this stage, as always, especially with EE HWs. Jalolov I agree with as being a bomb out to date, but Povetkin I think was pretty close to a world beater except for near prime Wlad and Joshua - and would likely have steamrolled over Walder had that gone ahead. I followed him from the ams. through the 'Povetkin's pro career' thread in Europe forum from fight 1, and would have keen to see aby of the above make that grade. Solid point on the 12 x 3 rounds ... but in fairness Itauma hasn't done a tough 12 rounds yet either. Good chance if he take of Hrg. he might get tested on that front there and then.
Depends how active they. They are notoriously inactive from the part of the world. But David Surov will be up there with Itauma and Teremoana, when he decides to concentrate on the pros.
