Pac is dangerously close to becoming a full-blown Cherry-picker!

This fight is totally meaningless. Its all about the money and nothing else, for both Pac and Oscar. It doesn't matter that its a challenging fight or not, what matters it that if you take away the money, this fight means absolutely nothing. If Pac really wants to test himself at 147, then there are better fighters to do it against. I would rather he face a p4p threat in his own division than a bigger fighter who hasn't beat an elite fighter in years just because he is a popular name.

Even if you go by risk/reward ratio. lets say Oscar is a 7 for risk, but he is a 10 for reward. So its still a 0.7 risk/reward. Meanwhile other fights like Campbell and JMM might be 5 for risk and 5 for reward, and therefore those fights are 1.0 risk/reward. Which means Pac is cherrypicking.

Money has nothing to do with cherrypicking. Pac will earn more money fighting JMM than fighting Soto. Pac will reap bigger rewards from beating JMM than beating Soto. Technically, Soto is a much BIGGER risk, LOW reward fight than JMM....JMM will pay alot more money than Soto. Would fighting JMM then be cherrypicking?

Cherrypicking has nothing to do with reward. Its simply about minimal risk and more often than not, they try to reap as much reward as possible from that minimal risk. A great example of that would be Joe-RJJ, RJJ is low risk for Joe and lots of reward(cash wise).

ALL fighters at the top try to make as much money as possible with their opponents...it becomes cherrypicking when they opt to choose a less riskier opponent with not much less, equal or more reward. That doesnt apply to Pac, cos whatever reward he is getting, he is RISKING ALL. The risk for taking DLH would be a higher risk than any available fight at 135 atleast to the majority of fans. That is not cherrypicking.

Cherrypicking has always been about how much you are risking. It just so happens fighters always try reap as much reward as possible from any fights, including cherrypicked fights or non-cherrypicked fights.

The point is, fighters get paid to fight. When they fight low risk opponents, thats when their cherrypicking. The reward is irrelevant, they are always looking for the highest reward possible, low risk or high risk.

if fighting DLH rather than JMM, Guzman, Campbell..etc...is cherry picking, then it must be a good trait then. Imagine picking an opponent more dangerous than your entire division..

 

Not sure how anyone can call a fight with ODLH 'cherry picking' the guy is twice pac's size. And if Hatton is next, then Pac will have cherry picked the ring no 1 LW, even if he is in decline.
