What ranking would you put these three fighters in? I think they should all be very close on lists. I think Ortiz clearly has the best names on his resume at the top end, but has more "prime" losses, with JCCs not coming until later in his career, and Alexis's early in his career and then the pryor defeats later on (though he was still only 30 for the first fight with pryor). I also think Alexis and JCC have quite a few more "good wins" than Ortiz. As far as the eye test, I think all three look great at their best, but Ortiz maybe less so than the other two, with Arguello being a truly beatiful powerhouse and Chavez an awesome pressure fighter. Not to take away from Ortiz though, clearly a fantastic technician and also physically strong. Does Ortiz's higher number of elite wins give him the edge? Arguello and JCC also hard to split as well. I'm unsure, please say your thoughts.

I think Ortiz is incredibly underrated and capable of beating any lightweight.

Imo. Mostly cause I value having success in multiple weight classes over only having success in one or two plus I think in terms of depth Chavez has the most depth even if you can argue Ortiz or Arguello have the better quality wins as well as more dominance at his peak then either.

This one is tough because I think they’re all interchangeable. For me personally this is where I rank them based on the fighters they all fought and beat:

Carlos Ortiz (victories over Flash Elorde, Ismael Laguna, Joe Brown, Duilio Loi, Sugar Ramos)

Alexis Arguello (victories over Bobby Chacon, Ruben Olivares, Ray Mancini, Bazooka Limon, Boza Edwards, Rubin Castillo)

Julio Cesar Chavez (victories over Hector Camacho, Edwin Rosario, Meldrick Taylor, Roger Mayweather, Greg Haugen, Rocky Lockridge, Juan Laporte)

Based purely on fights at Lightweight, Ortiz comfortably.

Based on fights in all weight classes, I'd go:

    JCC
    Arguello
    Ortiz

With next to nothing to separate JCC and Arguello.
