Dubois has eclipsed Fury and Joshua

Well, I guess part of me would rather he get too much credit than too little, so, okay.

 

I still think Fury is more proven than Dubois.

But I do think Dubois is better than Joshua

 

Matchroom did an incredible job hyping Joshuas CV but his best wins are all against old, past it and/or inactive fighter. Did he beat any prime fighters - Parker maybe but I think his prime was a good few years later, Ruiz possibly but he didn't bother training after the first fight.

Dubois has beaten arguably the best versions of Hrgovic, Miller, Wardley and Joshuas team were claming he was the best ever version of himself under Davison before Dubois sparked him as well.

 

Longevity and consistency are measures of fighters legacy and status. They dont talk about any fighters as greats who've only defended their belts once or twice.

 

So on one hand, you're saying Matchroom overhyped AJ's resume, but on the other, you say that Dubois won against the best version of him, just because Matchroom said so? Make it make sense. Also, Hrgović was sick, so he wasn't the best version of himself and Miller was 333 pounds as the fight was contracted on short notice. You can pick holes in every resume if you want to do it. For now, AJ has better wins than Dubois, but 1-2 Top 10 contenders more on his list and Dubois will surpass him. He may surpass Fury as well in the future.

 

Dubois never made a successful defence of his WBA regular title or his IBF belt so at this point he has 0 defences to his name.. he needs a string of WBO defences and a successful unification fight to surpass Fury and AJ in the history books.

I rank Joshua v Parker quite highly because it was a unification between two unbeaten champions in their prime.

These type of lists are always subjective and normally full of personal bias, so not disputing it as it’s your list. But I’d definitely have Dubois v Wardley on there somewhere.

 

Yeah great point. 5 minutes after posting I was thinking it probably does need to go on there.
I was thinking 11, but it likely does deserve to be higher. Maybe #8 because it was a clean win, whereas my 8~10 either had some controversy or fighters not at their best.

But i agree it is v. subjective but still fun to consider

 

Yeah, that feels about right. How you think the rematch goes? Beyond that, Parker is almost an honorary Brit at this point, bit like when the cast of Neighbours and Home & Away somehow dominated the charts and airwaves back in the day.

 

The Kiwi's won't like that.
I suspect the rematch is likely to go mostly the same way. Dubois' jab is just too good. And while Wardley seems like a quick study, playing catch up with limited time will be hard - Dubois is in his prime and likely has too much experience over him at this stage of their careers. Not a favourable match-up for Wardley. I would be very impressed if he stops Dubois.

Fury and Joshua are going to fight. Though it is a decade long in the tooth, the winner can claim to be the best of the "three kings" micro era.

Since Usyk beat Dubois twice, Dubois has no claim to being the best of anything.

Wait....what? Usyk stopped Dubois twice. How was this dent put?

Destroyed? Controversial stoppage, with Parker on his feet and ahead on the cards? Are we talking about the same fight, here? Because that does not equal, "destruction" in my book.

So I see how this continues to buffer Dubois over Joshua, but when are we getting to Fury and the dent in Usyk?

For entertainment value, sure. One could argue that the real best fighter is the guy who got a quality win without getting off the canvas, once or twice.
