Would any current heavyweight beat Verhoeven in a kickboxing match?

With some training I’m sure a boxer could adapt but without any training of blocking kicks I think it’ll be hard. Like if Moses shows up to fight Rico in a boxing match and they change it to a kickboxing match the day of the fight, I think it’ll be a bad day for Moses.

The only “in prime” boxer we seen in a kickboxing match (K-1) is Shannon Briggs. Briggs won by first round KO, but he fought a guy that was primarily a MMA fighter. Briggs said that the low kicks hurt so much he had to end it as fast as he could.

Ray Mercer and Vince Phillips was older and not in their prime. Mercer got KO’d by a headkick and Phillips got stopped by low kicks.

Virtually nobody is "just an MMA fighter", practically all of them had a background in something else before they focused on MMA. Like half of Ganes UFC opponents plus his next one have competed in kickboxing or boxing. Plus MMA stand up is close enough to kickboxing that a good MMA striker will usually be able to do alright in kickboxing anyway.

It was a completely pointless comment. No idea why you laser focused on me saying a guy is "outside of kickboxing" when hes never been in it, and decided to take issue with it, totally derailing the subject in the process.

Plenty of guys have the raw talent to adapt, but if you learn new skills that aren't part of boxing in order to succeed...are you a boxer anymore?

Boxers losing in other combat sports isn't a statement on the talent of the boxers themselves, its a reflection on the skillset they have trained for. Boxing is extremely effective when used in conjunction with other things but by itself its too limited to find consistent success in deeper forms of combat.

Oh, so a lot of people are viewing these fantasy matchups through this lens? Well, that's just silly. Of course a boxer would have to expand their toolset to compete in another sport - this is because of how strict boxing rules are.

This comment right here shows the lack of understanding you have of the fight game.

Please logout and delete your account, you have no business talking to adults about fight sports that actually knows the difference of fight sports, actually you shouldn’t talk to adults at all, talk to kindergartners about your fantasy matches.

I suppose I could run through the sheer amount of fighters that have gone from one to the other, or the finer technical details of MMA stand up vs kickboxing vs muay thai, but this interaction was already tiresome several exchanges ago, has zero relation to the topic and has already derailed the thread enough.

For the final time, this entire "debate" stems from you taking issue with a man who has never had a kickboxing rules fight, and who has exclusively been in the UFC for 7 years, being described as being "outside of kickboxing". It is utterly baffling, honestly.

Now, have the last word and breathe a sigh of relief.
