Eddie Hearn says that Shakur Stevenson is signing with Zuffa

Oh my. This is not good.

People are underestimating what a mortal threat these Zuffa people are.

 

Man I hope this isn't PBC 2.0. Where they signed fighters and they all ended up on the shelf.

 

Oh good lord. They nab the American with probably the highest ceiling? Sigh.

He makes a point tho, who are they going to match him with at Zuffa? Valenzuela? De Los Santos rematch? Stevenson throwing away a lot of legacy fights.

 

Who cares. His safety first style of fighting is boring.

 

I said it a while ago here, the whole Zuffa Boxing idea was to copy the UFC model for how it took over MMA: buy out the competition, overpay a few stars to corner the market, and aim to be the only real player left so you can set fighter pay with little worry for competition.

I was surprised by how many people dismissed the idea that Zuffa would be a threat to establishment boxing when we've already seen this story play out before.

 

As far as opponent goes, they have made some good bouts so far and I doubt that is an issue. The threatened monopoly with US government support is an issue that existing greed ridden promoters and managers have created the perfect space for. So while we're bagging greedy megalomaniacs at Zuffa, just remember incompetent megalomaniacs elsewhere created this huge opportunity for Zuffa.

 

Richardson Hitchens is with Zuffa. That's a good matchup for Stevenson.

 

Stevenson has no marketability but an incredible skill set. Conor Benn has a mediocre skill set and great marketability because of his Dad's name. Zuffa are making some odd moves. Shakur would struggle to sell many PPVs or seats in an arena, he's a horrible fighter that a lot of boxing fans don't enjoy watching, myself included, they will hemorrhage money by signing Stevenson, strange business strategy.

 

You are a joke. Zuffa delivered Canelo v Crawford and Usyk v Fury and Usyk v AJ and Teo v Shakur and Bivol v Beterbiev

Zuffa doing the damn thing. Only atupid ass ZOMBZ ZQUADZ prefer watching Wilder (or whoever) fighting bum after bum.
