From the same poster who claimed that "Ali beat 30 individual elite HW's", and mentioned Coopman and Dunn as two of the thirty.

    This is mental illness.

But fighters in "the old days" didn't always fight good opposition

I meant when not fighting for a title. Could have worded that better. Not always. But usually.

Today a fighter whose never fought for a belt is going to fight the sort of opponents who usually won't be able to take rounds from them. And will log 90% in those rounds. While in the past this was not the case. Fighters often fought opponents who had a real chance of beating them with nothing on the line.

Dunn was an EBU/Commonwealth double winner with a dozen losses. If he's not an elite opponent neither is Chisora.

Coopman was a European champion albeit the worst title opponent of Ali's career. He's 36-16. Chisora is 36-14.

Ali didn't drop a single round against these guys.

Yeah they were elite heavies. Dunn and Coopman would probably beat Usyk.

Why do you have such an obsessive hate for Oleksandr Usyk?

    Are you Tyson Fury's father?

    9 - 3 is hardly nearly winning

By his logic, Canelo nearly beat Mayweather, Bivol and Crawford.

Anyone that gave Chisora more than 3 rounds is drunk

Tiring the opponent out is probably Usyks biggest strategy imo. As long as he gets the opponent working harder than they want to be working it pretty much goes down as a win.

Tony Bellew won rounds....but ended up totally shattered at the cost of winning them rounds. I genuinely think its usyk,s biggest strategy....bigger than even winning a round.

Bellend also barely landed anything of consequence in those first 3 rounds. Usyk then turned up the pace and destroyed him, faster than he did anyone of any note barring Dubois 2, who was trying to KO Usyk rather than running and potshotting.

Dropping rounds vs Bellew also made the fight more appealing for Hearn/Joshua. If he'd started fast as he did vs say Joshua 1 or Fury 1, won every round, and stopped Bellew in the first half, maybe AJ ducks him and he never gets the payday or the belts. Even if AJ didn't duck him there would be less underestimation and "Oh cr@p" when he realised, which hit AJ harder mentally when he was immediately being outboxed from the 1st bell.

That is another problem with the moronic rounds metric, these fights are not in isolation in practice.

Didnt make it that appealing as Joshua/hearn both toyed with the idea of dropping the belt. Took on every mandatory until Usyks name came up then started talking about dropping the belts.

That was kind of my point. He doesnt mind losing rounds if he can get the opponent working harder than they want to be working. He done that to Bellew. Bellew won rounds but the cost was he was shattered winning them rounds. At that point Usyk began to drown him. Mission accomplished. Thats their main strategy over winning every round.
